ebay question??
i didnt know where to post this but here it is.
i bought an item about 2 days ago and the shipping charge was $7, i paid immediatly and this morning i get this message
"The item shipped today via UPS. The tracking number is 1Z2445740360314037. The shipping charges were $8.09. It would be great if you would send me the difference. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me."
this has never happened before, should i pay the difference? i've sold items before where i under-charge on the shipping but i've never asked to make up the difference.

I really dont know what Id do in this situation. There has been many times where Ive sold something on ebay and miscaculated the shipping but never ask for the differnce.

As a seller if I misquote a shipping charge when I've placed it in the ebay listing format I always honor it. I've been doing it for so long I know what to charge to not under charge, but if I ever did or mistyped it by accident I'd never come back to the buyer and ask for more unless it was a huge difference. When I say huge I'm talking like putting $2 instead of $20 or something like that.
This seller was off by $1. In my opinion its a bit tacky to ask for $1.09.

Here is what just happened to me, I won a bid on an item that said free shipping. Then the seller had put at the very bottom will charge for shipping after purchase. I guess stupid me didnt read that are over read it or something, but still in my opinion you shouldnt be able to list it as free shipping then charge shipping.

That's completely shady. I wouldn't have paid the shipping and worst case would have just killed the transaction. He just did that to get into the free shipping search and have the free shipping label added to his listing. Very scummy in my opinion. I would have definitely not liked that. That's why eBay started making sellers add the shipping fee so buyers could look for the exact shipping in the same spot each time they looked at an auction and have zero confusion by different sellers listing it in different spots throughout their description. Would never buy from that seller again.

I love when they charge $4 for shipping 1 card, but when you get the package it says $1.86.
OP- If its shipped like he says it is then Id let it be and probably not reply or reply with a too bad or something, but thats just me.

I wouldn't pay it. I've eaten shipping before because I miscalculated it. That's his fault. he said 7$ so he has to eat it..

I wouldn't paid. I won an item a few weeks ago where SH was $3 in the auction and the actual shipping was over $7 and the seller never asked for a dime.
