He didn't just say he was the best player in the league. He said he was the best player on the PLANET.

I stand corrected...BEST PLAYER ON THE PLANET! LMAO
"THE TRUTH" is that Paul Pierce is his own biggest fan.

So what you're saying is that every player who plays a sport, organized or not, believes that he/she is the best player in their sport? btw, please stop sugarcoating everything he says...he didn't say he was the best player on his TEAM or ONE of the top players in the league, he said he was the BEST player in the league.

    .

Pretty much, yes...how are you supposed to play well if you don't think you can go out and do anything? If you think you will be shut down by an opponent, you WILL be shut down by that opponent, regardless whether or not your opponent is the reigning defensive POY or a 4th stringer. You have to envision yourself as the best player on the floor, whether it's true or not.

I'm better than Paul Pierce....That statement makes as much sense as him thinking he's the best athlete on the planet

Listen, playing to the best of your ability and thinking that you're the best player on the planet are two different things. Everyone I'm sure tries to play to the best of their ability, but not everyone thinks they are the best player on the planet when they are clearly not...a person would have to be delusional.

You can envision all you want, but if I'm playing against Kobe than I'm obviosuly not the best player on the court, it's as simple as that. Envisioning and actually being are two different things. I think I've made my point, I don't know how much clearer I can make it.

I think there is a difference between being delusional, knowing your own strengths, and having no self confidence at all, all three very different things.

If you think you are better than what your ability can do lot of times that can lead to problems. For example, I think I can score on Kobe (but in reality I really can't), so instead of passing to my teammate who can actually score on his man, I keep trying to score on Kobe, so you see the problem there.
