Keep it man. It's very depressing when people get autographs and they turn around and sell them. You are very lucky to have one. Besides, what if Strasburg turns out to be a flop in the Big Leagues?

Ive made the decision to sell it in order to invest more into my Todd Hleton collection. Thanks for the advice but I think this is the best option

very scummy... and shows lack of character... he took the time out to auto your ball for free TTM and you're selling for the profit???

HOPE YOU HAVE DIARRHEA FOR THE NEXT MONTH... and next time don't post trash like this... please get out of the hobby...

can't rationalize it by saying you will "reinvest" into your collection... what a joke!!!!!

Hope my account doesn't get suspended for bashing you ... but what you're doing is ethically wrong... and you should expect forum members to bash you when you post a diarrhea question like this one... And I stick to everything i wrote above!

Thats just uncalled for bro. Why keep an auto that doesnt really mean anything to me when I can get some nice cards for a collection of my favorite player?

not saying you shouldn't sell, just don't sell for profit...

would you still sell it if you were to donate 100% what you make to the Washington Nationals Community Foundation? If the answer is yes, then sell

Not cool to profit of another person's goodwill, he signed for you for free and you turn around and take advantage of that for personal gain?

Why even request it in first place if it never meant anything to you?

If the auto does not mean anything to you, than why did you send for it in the first place? Seriously....I'm not going to say anything nasty, but selling something that he was nice enough to sign for free kills the hobby.

dude honestly that was uncalled for. I really see nothing wrong if hes putting it back into the hobby which i know a lot of people do. Right now hes stuff is selling for a lot. a lot more than a lot of really good hall of famers like Mays, There is a very large change Strasburg goes Mark Prior and blows out his arm. So if he was to sell it now it would be worth it. But if Strasburg is as good as he seems to be hyped about he will be in the league for another 10 years in which he would have plenty of time to get him again for his collection in person to meet him.

edit: also on another board im on there is this amazing grapher and it costs him a lot of money for graphing because he goes out graphing so much that he sells some of his stuff just to recuperate the amount spent on the hobby.

if you don't want to hear people's opinions then why post that DIARRHEA of a question... taking advantage of anyone's generosity is 100% wrong, and wrong is wrong... there are not exceptions... and can't justify it...

I guess I'm just old school and still believe collecting should be 100% hobby and not a business. If he bought it there would be not problem in selling, but he got for free and said he didn't care much for it in the first place.

So you think i should just throw tons of my money into this hobby and not get anything back? I paid 13 bucks for the ball, i paid 7 dollars for envelopes and shipping I have put so much time into this hobby and when i can get something back instead of just losing money all the time I have to take advantage. I sent it because I wanted an autograph of the number one draft pick in case he became huge and i could sell it one day. Turns out his autograph is at the highest it will probably ever be now so i have to take advantage. Do you plan on just throwing a bunch of money into the hobby and never selling anything? That is what a hobby is about enjoying yourself but at the same time knowing when it is the time to part with your things because it doesnt make any sense to hold on to an autograph that doesnt really define who i am when i could be getting some money for it. I have tons of Cubs balls and Todd Helton autographs that I plan on never selling and passing down but it really makes sense to sell the strasburg now and i see where you are coming from and it was really nice for him to sign my ball but I feel that you cant hold on to things forever and when its at the peak you have to jump on it.

i agee with u on this.strasburg is as high now as he will probly ever be even if he gets in the hall of fame.ive got a cal ripken jr HOF ball that wont get as much as a strasburg ball will right now.its unheard of what the ball is goin for.its a hard choice whether to keep it or sell it.ive gotten autographs with the intent to sell but ended up keeping and vice versa.do what u want.maybe even invest in more items to send him,get them back and sell them again lol
