why do ebayers do this?

this isnt a complaint more of just curiousity on my part. i notice this alot on higher end auctions i run. its a card that will end for 50 bucks or more and everyone knows it. but it never fails someone will bid 1.50 on it and thats the only bid they will enter. then the next person will bid 2.50 adn thats the only bid they will enter. im not complaining because there is no such thing as a bad bid on an item im selling. my question is why do you think they do this? do they just want to see there name as the high bidder for awhile?

i think some people do that so they can watch more than the 200 items you can have in your watch list, they just put a low bid so they can keep an eye on the auction.

i couldnt imagine having 200 items on my watch list much less having more to watch haha. thats a ton of items to watch at once.

thats definatly interesting i never heard of doing that before. like i said im not complaining because any bid on my items is a good bid i just always found it weird at least there seems to be a reason.

i watch so many things on there its acually pretty pathetic, but ive surpassed the 200 number on quite a few occasions

I always thought people would do that maybe bid super low on 200 items and win 1 or 2 of them getting a steal.

I do it for this reason towards the end of the 30 day mark. I've got a couple great deals this way, but the majority of the time my bid is denied.

I have certain cards (Madison Bumgarner and Todd Frazier elite autos) that I will almost always throw in a low bid on just to monitor where they end. I don't bother with 'Watching' items, every once in awhile one of my low bids actually wins ;-)
