    Chipper Jones Contemplating Retirement

Only 38....but about the age a lot of guys choose to retire when they've played for so long. A great hitter though - sad to see him go if that's the route he takes.

I've always respected Chipper Jones. Great ballplayer and seems to be a great person too. Sad to see him come to the end of his career.

I think he and the Braves are working out the details on terminating his contract. Once they come to terms he will make an official anouncement. What a class act to give money back to the team instead of riding the bench and collecting his contract money. He is a true rarety in the game.

I am not a Braves fan in the least, but it will be too bad to see him leave the game. Such a great hitter for so many years, but what really impresses me is that he spent his entire career in Atlanta. Obviously that is something that almost never happens in today's game. As productive and consistent of a hitter as he was for over a decade, winning an MVP and a WS ring, what do you think the chances of him getting the HOF are? I personally would love to see him get him. He may not have 3000 hits or 500 homeruns, which seem to be the benchmarks, but I say he deserves it.

I think he'll be elected to the HOF. He was too good not to be. I agree with everyone...he's one of the classiest ball players in the big leagues and it will be sad when/if he retires. I'm still not a Braves fan though but will always look up to Chipper as one of the great players of the last two decades.

I am 100% positive he will get in. As well as an MVP and WS he also has a .306 BA and a batting title.
