Identifying Cards

Hey all, new to the forum. I recently found my way back to the hobby after 7 years or so. I have been buying a ton of lots and having a great time. My biggest problem is identifying cards with my on-line beckett subscription. I have for example an endzone kings card of priest holmes. I have no way of knowing if it's an endzone king red, gold, or silver parallel or what. it's 3 of 50.

Please don't reply with the answer what this specific card is. It just seems like I have this problem with a lot of cards. It their a website that explains how to identify which type of cards I have. (For example it would tell me me that the /50 means it's a gold) any insight would be helpful.............

I have never used their website but I know in the mag. it will tell you. You would just look at the brand and look for the red, gold or silver. It should say what each one is serial #'d to. Thats the way I always figure it out.

I had the same problem with leaf, I was getting some cards that were numbered and some that werent with the same card number, the best way is the box or pack usually says what each parrallel is numbered to then just match it to the serial number on the card

Thanks for the replies. The problem with looking at the packs is that I get a lot of these cards as port of a lot on ebay. As far as using beckett mag i spent 19.99 for the online price guide. it will really suck if I also have to buy that, but i guess if I want to know............

I checked alot of the card companies websites and their explanations confuse the issue. check out Fleer Sweet Sigs EndZone Kings they make no sense at all......well maybe I should start a web-site.......would anyone want to help????

Sometimes if you click on the card, it shows examples of the cards... It helps me from time to time

This is why a website is needed that shows what each card looks like from each brand and information about that set/parallel. I am thinking about starting up a site like this myself. Its been a while since I have been in this hobby and see that they come out with so many brands anymore.

Mess0312...you say you have the Online Price Guide?

Just go to the price guide of the sport and:
Click the year the set was made (should come up with a list of card products from that year.)
Click the product the card is from.
Select the specific set the card is from. (Just one set. Not more.)

It should tell you all about the set at the top. Don't even type in the player's name in the beginning... just search the set.

Example:

Notice how it says the Legacy version is #/125, and the Masterpeices are 1/1's? That's what would help in your situation. If there's more then 1 parallel of a set it will tell you up there. I only searched for the Legacy but since the Masterpeices are a parallel it tells me.

You know it's not so much that I can't tell the price once I find the cards and it type. it is mostly figuring out what type of parallel the card is. Bowman finally started putting refractor on the back of card to let you know. It's just that some cards have no way of knowing what the card is by just looking at it unless you know what to look for. You would be surprised a lot of the cards on the beckett website have the "picture not available" graphic

Bowman has always put 'Refractor' on the back. Since like 1996.

And you don't need a picture... look at the link I posted. That's all you need to figure out what card it is.

When I can't figure out what card is what, I search for something similar on ebay. Doesn't have to be the same player...just a card from the set I think it is from. Usually helps.
