Beckett Marketplace - First Bad Experience!
Hey Gang,
Just a little rant.. Does anybody use the Beckett Marketplace to purchase cards? I've been using it quite frequently lately as it has allowed me to purchase many low-end singles at decent prices and shipping costs for the players I collect that nobody seems to want to list. I've completed probably 20 or so perfect transactions -- no problems at all.
Until now..
I recently purchased what was supposed to be a Tyler Moss 97-98 Crown Royale Ice Blue parallel -- I can't seem to find this card for anything less than $10 including shipping and I'm not yet willing to pay that for a $2.50 card.
I found a seller on Beckett Marketplace that agreed to sell it to me for $5 including shipping - a fair sale. I sent the PayPal and waited - the card arrived... and it was the wrong one. She sent the Emerald Green parallel instead -- which I already have and is worth about half what the Ice Blue card is worth! Bummer!
After emailing twice she responded and gave me a option:
1.. She could give me a refund of $3 and I keep the card I was sent.
2.. I could send the card back and get a full $5 refund.
I figure Option 1 is the way to go since the postage balances everything out anyways - so I tell her to send the refund.
Three days later (today) I email and remind her about the refund -- she replies to tell me she sent $3 cash via mail and I should receive it soon.
Does anybody think this is kinda messed up and wrong? I never agreed to a cash refund and was expecting PayPal.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Halo
PS.. The seller was 'Lakeland Sports' -- I suggest not purchasing from them. However, all other sellers I have purchased from on Beckett Marketplace have been excellent!
PPS.. If anybody has the Moss 97-98 Crown Royale Ice Blue parallel let me know! Still need it! lol

I'd go through PayPal to jic, sounds a little shady to me. At least it's only $3 you have to worry about though.

I thought about filing a complaint via PayPal but I don't think they would do much since the seller DID send a refund via cash in the mail (supposedly -- we'll see if it shows up!)

Terrible customer service and what a cheap seller.
The seller made the mistake and sent the wrong card. They should have let you keep it and given a full refund.
Noted that 'Lakeland Sports' is a cheapo

Well, according to me, the seller is really cheap. Since she made the mistake, she should have given you a full refund + you to keep your card. Anyway, is it possible to give a negative feedback for this seller ? If so, I'd do it, even though she sent you 3$, since it was a very bad mistake of her to give you another card than what you ordered.

I just realized that its even worse- you paid paypal and she (allegedly) has sent a cash replacement. I'd ask her why paypal wasn't an option to her? Everyone knows sending concealed cash is risky.
