Upper Deck...
So, obviously UD has a very bad reputation, that they tried to make better this year with hot boxes in Basketball, and even soccer. But what I've realized is that hot boxes usualy don't have the same quality hits as a regular box would. I think UD puts the lesser hits in the hot boxes, so they're really not worth that much more. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?

UD may have a bad reputation but Stupid..they are not!, Who would put a bunch of high dollar autos/gus in there Hot boxes knowing theres 3 per case, No one...So of course they are going to throw in a bunch of $12-$20 auto's and $6-$15gu's in there hot boxes so they still gain from the sale's and make the Collectors happy with the multiple pulls even if there not quality.

I have seen a lot of "Hot Boxes" opened and I for one would prefer to not have a "Hot Box," the hits are terrible.

Nothing UD does is really for the benefit of the buyer. Those guys have a proven track record of screwing their customers.

I tend to only open about 10 boxes a year max. Most are low end things like Artifacts and Hot Prospects, but I have never had any problem with UD. I dont know maybe it is just me because I havent opened too many high end products. I myself pulled a hot box of the 09/10 UD which included not only a Kobe gu, but a Lebron gu too. I guess I must have been lucky.

I have seen big hit in Hot box. The only problem is when the product has "hot box", it pulled down the value of other "non-hot box". Meaning, UD will just add a lot of low-ball GU/Auto to filter the whole production. And in order to pull a MJ auto, you may need to go through 100+ late 2nd round RC auto first.
"Hot Box" is just a buzz word in hobby to get us to buy. Anyone who does some research already knows these products are trash (GU can't even sell for $2).

I wouldn't say that the price ranges you listed are the garbage prices but actually what most of the better GU/Auto's go for out of the 09-10 UD. The lowest numbered hits i've ever pulled out of the series was /150. The only cards that book for a whole lot more than that range are stuff with Jordan.
However, the hot box I had the pleasure of opening was awesome. I didn't get any auto's that I was excited about but I got so many awesome dual GU. For example, my hot box had Chris Webber/Garnett, Dirk/Garnett, David robinson/Garnett, Dirk/Larry Bird. I mean it was crazy how awesome the players were in my hot box.
On a similiar note, has anyone gotten a box of the 09 UD's that had a lot of players from the same college? I bought one a month after the hot box that had a Keith Bogans GU, Teyshaun Prince 3-D card, and a Prince/Lebron GU. It was great for my PC (first Lebron gu card Woot!!) but i'm sure a lot of other ppl would have been disappointed w/ it (minus the Lebron part).
