Warsofsky is a guy they've been looking at for quite some time. I think he was a Craig Ramsey idea as he used to scout him personally. Sobotka is a hard one to lose as he was just starting to show his potiential, but again, that frees up money and another Roster Spot.

I would also Keep Savard, at least until the trade deadline. If Boston gets into a Race like they did at the end of last season, we'll need his Clutch to get through. Plus Savard is the only one on the team that can get Blake Wheeler going. Wheeler is high on the Neely list and will be around for a long time. Savard is the man for him, Wheeler just needs to earn his first line spot.

Look at it this way Savard makes 4M, but Tim Thomas makes 5M for 3 more years, the Bruins are gonna eat 15M, who wants to pay 5M per season for a 36 or 37 year old player, keep Savard, he's there best and only true playmaker on there team.
Sequin is not the the Mesiah, like Crosby or Ovy, who's gonna lead them to the Stanley Cup, it's a team game.

Carol - I think Thomas has earned his keep even though he's 36. 5 mil for a starting goalie who won the Veznia a season ago, not bad. But either way, works for Boston. Savard should be kept, but he isn't the only playmaker on that team. Bergeron is a 2 way player who has one of the best Visions for the game. He can certainly step in to the top center on Boston with no issue. Krejci, with more development could also do this down the road.

Thing is, we have lots of room for error. If Seguin doesn't pan out (I guarantee you he will in Boston) we have backups all through the system.

Savard for Kaberle. Toronto gets a slick top-six forward, Boston gets a solid power-play quarterback. Everyone wins.

BTW, if the Bruins don't move Savard by Thursday, his limited no-trade kicks in, meaning he can only be traded to one of the five teams on his list. And reports suggest Toronto and Ottawa are two of the teams on that list.

I'd be willing to bet that both the Bruins and Leafs are trying to make better deals for their respective players. But if something doesn't get done by July 1, this one-for-one wouldn't surprise me at all.

Ed - I totally agree. It would work well for both parties. I think the deciding factor here is whether Peter C or Brian B want to trade their respective stars to a division rival. I'm sure Boston wouldn't mind whatsoever as we sort of took the leafs in the last few trades. But I believe Kaberle would be a huge boost to Boston. Can you imagine a smooth playmaking powerplay quarterback passing to an awaiting one timing Chara? Scary thought. And we still have Seidenburg and Stuart to block the shots and play the rough game.

I would Imagine Burke wants a draft pick with a roster player for Kaberle which is what's holding up this deal.

Burke is one of those GMs that likes dealing with a certain circle of opposing GMs, and that's about it. Chiarelli is definitely in that circle. Burke also knows he's not really in any position to be picky when it comes to making a deal that helps the team right now...I think he overestimated the market for Kaberle, expecting a top-six forward and high draft pick in return.

As I said, I'm sure both teams want more back in return, but in the end, it will make both teams better. Toronto can spare a D-man, and Savard would be a lock for 75 points as the team's top centre. And as you said, Kaberle would make the Bruins' power play one of the best in the league.

Vancouver traded for Ballard and they gave Bernier , Grabner and a late 1st round pick.

Now , Kaberle is worth more than this.....he's worth Savard

Chiarelli knows he currently has $10M/year not wisely invested. Anyway, Savard is the kind of player that any team will forget pretty fast. With Bergeron, Krejci and Seguin in the lineup, I do not know here what is this "hype" around Savard. Like for Thomas, once the expiration date is over, it's time for a cleanup.
