Price BV
If Carey Price can't make it as a starter next year. Do you see his BV dropping alot. If he can't make it big, i wonder if it will ever drop significantly? Seems to be stuck at a high book value forver now. Any thoughts?

Carey Price is the starting goaltender - unless they bring in a veteran that's highly unlikely to change. They've handed him the keys and cleared out the competition. Because I don't pay attention to Beckett I don't know if their values have dropped in recent months, but in the two months prior to the Halak trade Carey's cards were the cheapest I'd ever seen them. $3 GUs and $12 autos was highly unusual even when you factor in the annual spring drop. Then Halak was traded and now Carey's cards are up again. It's a rollercoaster ride for sure but I would expect them to stabilize and stay high for as long as he is in a Montreal uniform.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The collectors have been miles ahead of Beckett on the Price thing. His card values have plummeted on eBay and elsewhere, but remain mostly stable in Beckett.

I was glad that I held onto the Price RC that I wanted to sell, because as soon as Halak was traded I listed the card and it went for much more than I expected.

Likely to stay that way too. If he comes roaring out of the gates next season, anybody who got theirs in the past couple months will be very happy with themselves. Of course, once he loses a game or two...

For people wanting to invest on Carey Price, his lowest value was between January-May 2010... well until 2 weeks ago. The day Jaroslav Halak was traded, Price's value instantaneously jumped in the hobby. With nobody else in Montreal, and with his talent, you can expert to see Carey Price back on track playing 60 games on next year with good stats. Afterall, it is all he needs, good stats, to reverse the thinking of some people. Two years ago, he was at the NHL All-Star game in Montreal with EXCELLENT stats, voted as the starter goalie by the NHL fans. Give him a bit of time. So bad news for people without Carey Price cards and searching to get some at discount, the ascension has begun. Buy now at decent price, or you can wait if you still not sure of Carey Price's talent and you will pay a LOT more during the 2010-11 season!

P.S. By the way, don't judge Price value according to Beckett. Halak's value has not moved according to Beckett but he was selling for way over "Beckett value". If you wait to see an arrow up/down to decide if it is good time to buy/sell, you will miss the parade.
