Amare Stoudemire Agrees to Contract w/ Knicks
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/n...ory?id=5356502
NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks have reached an agreement in principle with free agent Amare Stoudemire.
The All-Star forward was seeking a maximum contract that would reunite him with coach Mike D'Antoni.
Stoudemire can earn about $100 million in a five-year contract from the Knicks. Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, said last week there was a "structure of an offer on the table."
Thought I would post this since it wasn't already. This could be a pretty big part of the LeBron sweepstakes.

Yeah well the Knicks can easily afford Amare and Lebron.
Obviously Lebron wants to run with a solid PF/Center and IMO Amare is way more talented than Bosh.
Im pretty sure Amare signed early hoping to persuade Lebron or Wade there with him.
Why wouldnt Lebron consider the Knicks now? Amare has a winning background while Bosh hasnt done anything for the Raptors.

Woohoo!!! That money was burning a hole in the Knicks pockets. I honestly dont think the market was that big for Amare, but im glad that he was one of the players the Knicks signed this offseason.

Well it's about time somebody made a major move, and I think this is the signing that could really help the Knicks land Lebron James, because everything else right now is pure speculation.
At least with the the Knicks, Lebron knows what he's walking into, and to be honest I don't think there's a huge distinction between Bosh and Amare, both All-star big men that can dramatically help any team.Last edited by jeebus86; 07-05-2010 at 08:56 PM.

Because a big part of LeBron's game is defense, and he prides himself on defense more than any of his offensive abilities. And since D'Antoni doesn't care about defense, it's a huge reason why the Knicks are nowhere near Cleveland/Chicago for LeBron. Even with Amare, it makes hardly any difference. It takes their chances from 1% to about 7%.

Because who else is on the Knicks besides Amare? Galinari, Chandler, who else?
New York isn't a desirable place to go, big market sure, but they are still an awful team and Chicago, Cleveland, and Miami are better destinations
