These eBay listings are not right

I was looking at some John Elway cards and found that a large majority of sellers are putting things out there that are not in line at all with the current demand or market. I'd say 75% + of what I've seen is way above what someone's likely to pay. Has the industry gotten to the point where sellers aren't willing to adapt to reality or is this an isolated occurance?

In particular, there's a guy on ebay named BurbankSportscards. His prices are so outrageous, I have no idea how he has any sales. He's got some cards listed at 150% book value. Yet, he's got a huge feedback number.

This has puzzled me as well. I found a card BV was $12 - on ebay for $15 BIN or best offer - since shipping was $3.50 I offered $2, I was counteroffered w/$10 + $3.50 shipping, I guess some people don't want to sell cards or there are some that are still willing to pay BV or more. I guess that's just not me.

Until people stop paying outrageous prices, they will not stop listing cards at outrageous prices.

I have noticed that guy. He has a handfull of hard-to-find Ramon Nivar cards that I need, but are rediculously overpriced. Example, an '04 LCM mirror emerald parallel listed for something like $69 bucks. I bought the mirror emerald 4-color patch on this site for less than $20. People like that make it very difficult for collectors to get what they need sometimes. Needless to say I haven't bought anything from him.

As you can see from my sig, I collect 2003 Donruss Classics. He's got a few I need which are limited, but they're just so ridiculously overpriced I won't do business with the guy. I contacted him once for a Tony Gwynn jersey card he had for $84. I offered him $60 and he wouldn't budge on the price. A month later I got it for $11 delivered from someone else's ebay store.

I can see if it's a Jeter, Pujols, Strassburg or someone who's hot on the market, you can hold out for a while hoping for the big payday. But some of the sellers who are holding out are gonna be stuck with the cards when the players retire or fall out of favor with collectors.

when your filthy rich like steven is (boss at burbank sportscards) you list something and if someone wants it bad enough they will buy it...i bought my 9798 michael jordan ultra platinum 100/100 for 700 shipped and my 9899 ultra michael jordan platinum for 450 shipped from him...sure it was outrageous but i wasnt letting them get away in the last 6 years i have saw one other jordan platinum from any year so i jumped on it lol

Cards are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. So if you have a card that very rare and someone wants it badly then you command a very high price.

I can see someone that has a lot of money and very high inventory sitting on a large pile of cards because someone evenutually will come along and pay the high price!

I found it never hurts to contact the seller even if they don't have a Best Offer option.

I've seen some cards that I thought were crazy high and contacted the seller they were willing to sell at 25% BV If I was willing to buy more than just one card.

I can understand that. I mean people all too often don't take into account the time and money involved in shipping a card. That's why it's just not worth it to sell only one card for 5$ take out the cost of shipping etc... and you are really selling at 2$ just not worth the hassel for 2 bucks. But if people are willing to buy more cards they get better deals.

Howdy, i was there today & a person is selling Dale Jr cards, in particular was an '05 Leg. Threads & Treads Bronze, bks $50. he wants $75 B.I.N.
Some1 has a hole in their head or like PT says, thers more than 1 being born every minute..
I DONT DEAL WITH THAT HOLE IN THE WALL, I FEEL IT LOWERS THE VALUE OF MY COLLECTION WHEN I PAY A DECENT $$ FOR A CARD & IT SELLS THERE FOR WAY LESS, THE CARD ENDS UP LESS THAN WHAT I PAID FOR IT AFTER THE "B" SCANS ALL THE SITES & ADDS UP THE INFO FOR PRICE GUIDES
But those people that buy there say i got a great deal tho eventually it will catch up & lower values & they cant see it...
