plz help me out...
Most of us buy/sell/or trade. We all have different programs for doing it; Access, Excel, a wordpad, etc.
However, who keeps track of their actual sales and expenses? Do you record fees like shipping and paypal fees? If so, how do u do it? Do u tie it back to the transaction it occurred with. Or, do most of you compare amount bought compared to amount sold.
What is the best way to keep track of my sales and the actual money I receive. For example, I may have $50 worth of sales from the Internet but if shipping fees are 7.34 fo all the items to ship and then $2.66 in payment fees to cash it out from paypal, I've not actually made the whole $50.
So does any keep a detailed record of their buying and selling? What about using a program like QuickBooks or Microsoft Small Business to better track their sales? Does anybody or any business use this?
Please let me know...either way! I want ur opinions!
thanks,
brady

I guess it would depend on how many sales, but i would think if its just a handful per month you could create a simple spreadsheet with the sale price - shipping costs of each item. The fees to withdraw the funds are a standard % i think, so you can also calculate that on and invidual sale or total for the month.

yea, but I'm trying to incorporate this all into my Access database. I basically already have that, but the trouble is tracking the profit/loss of it.

If you are going to calculate profits, definitely take into account fees and shipping costs.

I buy cards from card show or ebay, then I put a label on the back for how much I pay for it. When I sell them, I will minus the shipping, fee, and the card itself, then it is my profit. However, I don't do this too often as this is not my business. This is so waste of time just to earn extra %80~$100 from buying and selling in ebay.

I'm starting to think it's not worth it either to worry about the lil details of each card...it gets all mixed together in the end anyway.
