    Question for the TTM vets

Probably not the right place for this question, but I am going to ask anyway.

When requesting an auto from a Non-sports personality, do you have to send an 8x10 or is that something they have on hand for PR or what?

What about retired sports figures that have no cards ie: managers, umpires, etc?

Some personalities might have their own 8x10. The thing is that most folks will send their own items. The reason is two fold. The first is that they have something they liked and want it signed. The second is that if your item is signed it you would know for sure that it did not just come of a stack of fake autos. Some stars have something like photocopies of an photo that they had signed the originaland send those copies. Main sports guys usually just do not have stacks of their cards hanging for their fans. I would send what you want signed, a letter of requests and a return envelope addressed to you with proper postage. You can find addresses in the through the mail manager. There even is a shortcut to it in my link.

Piggybacking on this thread I have a question, as I've never written to TV Celebrities before.

Where do you send requests to? I'd like to send to the casts of Burn Notice and White Collar, and to George Thorogood. But, I don't know anywhere to find their info.

I know that there are sites out there for celebs, but here are a few things to try. I see better results c/o venues. Should you know that they are going to be performing at a certain place drop a request in the mail about 4 maildays before that date. You also can Google search for official web sites of the celeb. Most of them will have a contact page and tell you how to contact them or their agent. Yes you can send celeb auto requests to their agents! Hope this helps!

If you are sending to a player (prefferably older ones work for this) send them an index to sign for you.
I am interested in Glen Perkins and Glen Perkins ONLY

I understand if you do not want to trade because of my (-1) rating, but I will do my best to get everything out on time.

    maybe

I am seeing a trend where many of the young players are being advised not to just sign a blank anything. The days of index card autos might be on the way out. I was shocked that even guys as low as single A baseball have told me that they have been told not to sign index cards or any type of blank paper. The index card is always great to include as you never do know if they may sign it for you or not. I like to send one with my card requests and ask a question on them in hopes that they will answer the question. I have gotten some cool answers and real 1/1 collectibles that way.

Its all about research but when in doubt send your own item to be signed. I am working on a project of all the late night comedy shows. I did the research and most will send their own picture.

    Good luck!
