Tape and Toploaders

Ive received in some trades toploaders with tape on them and once ive taken the tape off its left the sticky crap from the tape of the toploader, it looks really ugly and i dont want to trade cards with these toploaders looking so ******, even though it does nothing to take away from the card it just looks average. whats the best way to get this stuff off and how do you aviod it?

you cant avoid it... its better than having the card fall out of the toploader.. and some goo-b-gon will take it right off

Here's a way to avoid that situation:

Request that the sender use masking tape instead of scotch tape--masking tape doesn't leave that residue.

I put toplaoder cards I sell in team bags instead. Fingernail polish remover or lighter fluid will also take the stickiness off.

here's a suggestion why don't you just reuse them for trades? nobody cares about the toploaders as long as there cards arrive in good condition. this is really petty to complain about

yeah, toploaders are pretty cheap. I think you can get a box of 50 for like $1.50

Yeah I have a few packs of new toploaders sitting here and when a card comes in I just put it in a new one and toss the sticky one in the trash.

Like others have suggested, I find a way to remove the stickiness, or else I just put the card(s) in (a) new top loader(s).

Well thats it, if i reused them for trades i dont want the person getting the idea that my stuff isnt looked after or clean ect. it just looks bad.... I dont want to use any liquids that would possibly get in the toploader and damage the cards either...

Believe it or not theres no card shops where i live that sell toploaders, theres no sellers on ebay.com.au that sell toploaders, and theres none that i have coem across on ebay.com that sell toplaoders to international bidders! The world is against me :D

I think it is a pet peeve for all of us but if it means my card arrives safely I don't care too much. Team bags do work well but not as secure as tape if you ask me.
