    Kovalchuk Not Going to Kings

Are the Ilya Kovalchuk sweepstakes now down to two teams?

The Los Angeles Times says the Los Angeles Kings will not be signing Ilya Kovalchuk, which potentially leaves the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders in the race to sign the high-scoring sniper.

Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi told the Times' Helene Elliott Sunday afternoon that talks between Kovalchuk and the team are over.

At least the Canucks won't have to face him as much next season.

I think he will go with NYI. I dunno. They just have a good young team, and I think Kovi would be attracted to the idea of going there. The NYI are almost like the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago Blackhawks always near the bottom of the league kinda just shoot up in the standings the next few seasons. I think the NYI will do the same. Staying with the NJ Devils would also be a good choice. Brodeur, Parise, Lagenbrunner, Zajac make a winning team. But I just have a feeling that he will be signing with the NYI. Both teams are very talented though. It would be a tough chioce to make.
