My Poem
So, as many of you know, I lost my best friend in Afghanistan last weekend. This is a tough one to swallow. I kinda threw together this poem today as I was thinking about him.. It helps to write.. What do you guys think?
Once a friend.. Now a Marine.
Things can never be the same.
War is just a game we played as kids.
Now it just brings grief and pain.
Walking through the desert is my life.
Its times like this I really miss home.
I wouldn;t change it for the world.
I am a servant of my country.. even when alone.
Wow.. It all happened so fast..
I went from American Soldier to zero.
Tell my little girl I'll love her forever,
And that Daddy died an American Hero.
In Loving Memory of LCpl William Taylor Richards.
