I'll be honest, I am one of the biggest who speaks against stickers but try to give some credit where due, Panini is giving us the first auto RC's of these guys about 4-5 months before UD typically does with SPX.
You have to give them due props there.
And the inscription on the Hall? Big thumbs up for that as well. If it HAS to be a sticker, then make it unique.

Your definitely bang on here, but the first thing I thought when I saw these cards was "SPX", which doesn't really turn my crank even if it came out in October. I will be more interested in rookie sets from Panini with hard signed material, and thats just my thing. I am actually more excited about Donruss at this point than Certified, but like I said this is just my initial impression of these rookies.

I have preordered a box already. I think this is good for their first Hockey product in years.
The owner of the shop I buy at had a couple promo cards from it. It is one of the Champions cards.
it looks great inperson.

Again the auto/jersey and auto/patch cards will be sticker autos but by the looks of it all the just auto cards will be hard signed in this product. The Freshman Signatures autos are hard signed along with the Certified Legends, Throwback Fabrics, and Collision Course auto sets.

I love the Junior Legacy subset - I've been wanting to see something like this for a long time now actually. And to see both the Kelowna Rockets featured (Benn/Schenn) and a sweet Price/Gomez (Tri-City) card in there? Awesome!
Other early positives I'm seeing:
- Fabric of the Game with jersey number swatches
- Fabric of the Game patches - there's a Giroux on eBay where the patch window spells "FLYERS" - yes the whole word - and takes up about half the entire surface of the card, running vertically. Excellent stuff - same with the Crosby that spells "PENS" on it.
- ladies and gentlemen, Sidney Crosby has dual autographs.Last edited by RGM81; 10-20-2010 at 08:32 AM.

I really hope the design team from football doesn't get their hands on the new hockey products...oh wait that won't happen.
Example of cards that are just not appealing
(non are my cards)

Problems
-There is to much foil on the card. A sticker (which isn't the worst) and just to busy. Perfect for collectors with ADD

Problems
-You think UD watered down the hobby with the amount of shield cards in The Cup. This product is a far cry from the cup price point wise. And even the design, the shield covers the player and just looks awkward. I really hope that Panini didn't tell the NHL rookies to put on 50 rookie shoot jerseys so they could put shield cards #/5
There are more that I could go over about the football side of Panini, but I will cover them when the show some Absolute or even the Certified.

I am going to take a wait and see approach. Just because they did it in other sports doesn't mean it will happen in hockey.
We are already seeing a lot of things in their first product they are not doing in football or basketball, namely hard signed autos.
