hockey talk radio??????
hello everyone..i would just like to vent a little about sports radio..for starters i am a chef/caterer and i have my own kitchen at my work place where rite next to me is my radio..where for the most part i listen to espn radio..the one thing that bothers me so much is you never hear anything hockey realated!!!! i love hockey so much that i even went out and bought the sirrius radio for my suv..even got the lifetime membership so i could hear some hockey talk!!! nothing, nothing, nothing,,am i missing a channel on the radio somewhere?? or is hockey that boring to sports networks other than canada where there i am sure at least they talk hockey ( one day i swear i am moving to canada)..even my sirrius radios 200 channels NO HOCKEY!!! if anyone knows of a channel i am missing that talks hockey please lmk...oh heres an example of someone who thinks hockey is boring..
the place where i work, the owner who is also my friend had started a conversation about football ( which i love to ,just not like hockey lol ) and i started talking about hockey..he replied,, can we talk about a real sport please??
well at that point i went nuts ( in a friendly way, he does sign my pay check )
i said what?? not a sport?? why do you say that??
he said, it makes no sense to me.. pushing a puck up and down the ice..
i said listen, have you actually sat down and watched a hockey game? or even went to a live game??
no..
i said until you do..don't judge the sport, thats rite sport!!!
hockey is one of the best games in the world to see live or even on tv..
the athletes are some of the most conditioned in any sport...
they superstar puck handler pushes the puck down the ice like an artist paints a picture..and a goalie more than any position makes some of the most acrobatic spectacular jaw dropping saves that you will ever see...bone crushing hits that are so hard you wonder how the hell the player even got back up..maybe with a few less teeth but you know what?? he will get back up and do his job.because he's an athlete in every sense of the word...
with that being said watch a game and then come back and tell me it's not a sport ( after you sign my check though )

Sirius channel 208 NHL Home Ice.
I've been thinking of getting satelite radio myself for the same reason.

The Fan 590, out of Toronto, went to Sirius last fall, on channel 98:

It's not excusivly about hockey, but they obviously do a lot of hockey talk.

No problem.
You really have no idea how bad it is here in Columbus. We have our own pro hockey team and hardly get any hockey talk. It's all OSU, all the time. The worst is when you have Chris Spielman talking hockey when he knows absolutely nothing about the game. It's horrible.

I love living in Edmonton. Just hockey, hockey, hockey everywhere you drive you see a hockey arena. 2 minutes from my House they are building a new complex with 4 arena, swimming pool, a indoor soccer arena, fitness center, etc...
if someone told me Hockey was not a real sport i would get them to come out on the ice with me and a few people ;).
But v3rs3 is right about the xm channel its hockey talk.

As an add on to gagnerfan89
The Team 1260 in Edmonton is great for Hockey, and they cover other sports well as well. But up until about 2 weeks ago they used to get there filler shows from Fox Sports Radio, and have now switched to ESPN. ESPN never mentions Hockey... never. Fox Sports Radio was pretty good about it (One or two shows where the hosts would openly hate on it) And a couple of hosts who loved it.
I used to say too bad they didn't talk more hockey, now with ESPN I wish I just had any Hockey.
But at least we have 4 or 5 shows each day that are almost exclusively Hockey (and Some CFL)
But even with that I have been considering the switch to satelite for more Hockey Talk.PC Players: Hidden Content , Hidden Content , Hidden Content , Hidden Content & Hidden Content

My recommendations:
http://www.fan590.com/
http://www.640toronto.com/
You can listen live via the internet. You can also download podcasts from both sites and pick & choose which topics you want to listen to. Load it up on your MP3 player and listen while you work. The Fan590 has Hockey Central @ Noon but only during the hockey season. AM 640 however, has Leafs Lunch during the summer period, and they talk a lot of hockey from 4-7pm during the Bill Waters show. Fan 590 has openly admitted that their station is hockey-driven. So, while they talk about almost every sport, they do mention hockey throughout the day. I should also note that AM 640 did practically a 7-hour hockey talk show during July 1st with the Free Agency signings. Hope that helps.
PS: Of course, be aware that when it comes to hockey talk, Leafs talk comes first with both stations.
