sending out customs
Hi guys,
What do you write in the letter to the athlete when you send out customs?
If anyone could give an example letter that would be great

The information in the sticky is kind of lame and seems more aimed towards a celebrity request.
I only send to players that I actually want their autograph, not just to get it. So I'll start off saying "Dear Mr. ___, How are you?" If it's a current player or coach I'll ask them how the season is going.. Or a question about the season.. etc. Otherwise I just say why I'm writing to them. Say something about their career or the way they played etc.. Then I ask if they wouldn't mind please signing my card etc.. Then I thank them for their time, and close it out. Nothing real long, but not to "form letter" like. My letter is never the same for another player.. I'm not sure how letters factor in to a success or not, but my success rate is very good.. I started doing it in January and I have 54 successes, one failure, and 36 out, only a coupe from March-April still out there, and the rest are from early June-now.
