Triple A - All Stars 2010
I am going to the open workout and game in a few days.
I am hoping to get as many as I can to sign the game ticket, so I can have it framed with a photo of my wife, nephew, and I that will be taken at the game. I am not the most aggressive IP grapher, and hope to get a few TTM. I checked the rosters vs the TTMM and many are not in there. If anyone recognizes a name and TTM signing habit, I would appreciate any help so I can form a strategy to send this thing out. Thank you.

Check with the home teams website. I have went to the AAA All Star game in Indianapolis and then in Toledo. The single A allstar game in Ft Wayne this year as well. In Indianapolis they did a great job with having all players sign before the all star game at tables around the concourse. Toledo did have a pregame signatures as well, but the fanfest on game day was easy as all get out! They again had all the players set up at tables for fans to get autographs. The single A guys did their pregame autos the day before during the skills day before the game on the concourse and then had a fanfest with autographs on game day as well! You do not have to be an agressive IP guy to get sigs at an minors all star game! I only graphed one day at the single A all star skills day and you can see my results here:

I know that I did well over a 100 at both of the AAA All Star Games as well. I did mostly cards back and AAA guys have plenty of cards usually!

A bit off-topic here but : I don't know about you, but I was kinda ™™™™™™ how they dealt with the fanfest. For them to cancel it because of rain an hour before the gates opened was horrendous, especially after the sun came out and stayed out the rest of the day. It showed zero thought for the people that were coming from any distance (Philly, Jersey, and the Poconos). That and the fact I watched a group of people get the giveaways (bag, pennant, and ball) in the administrative office before they closed it. It was also kinda ridiculous that it was rescheduled a month later. It's supposed to rain for the All-Star game so, I'm curious to see what they're going to do about that.

I live only 15 minutes from the park, so I was just a little bummed about it at first. Then, it hit me. They really did handle the situation poorly. I feel terrible for anyone coming a long way. I feel bad for my co-worker. His family came up from North Carolina for a weekend visit. So, he thought he would be nice and buy everyone tickets for the fanfest. Guess who just threw x amount of money away?
What annoyed me the most? The team's website blatantly said the event was to be held RAIN OR SHINE. The name of the news article was RAIN OR SHINE PIGAPALOOZA TO GO ON or something like that!
Now for the weather! If they would have looked at ANY weather report that day, they would have seen that things would clear up. Sure, it REALLY cleared up a lot more than was expected, however, it wasn't anything to fret over. The morning storm was nasty, but by 11 am it was obvious that it was slowing to a halt. By 1230 it was a faint drizzle...by 1...nothing. Then the sun came out. Ahhh! I was mad.
That would have ticked me off too if I saw people getting the "freebies." I understand...they are understandably upset, but to give them the giveaways as a way to probably "just shut up and get out of my face" solution is not right either. If that was the case, they should have treated everyone equally and not just those whose complaints they grew tired of.
I read that it may storm off and on the day of the game. If it is rained out, they are playing the following day. Which brings me to the game. Have you seen any nice giveaways for the actual game? I mean, sometimes they give away some nice swag at their regular season games, and unless they are keeping it a secret, they haven't mentioned ANY gameday giveaway. If you wanted a giveaway you had to either complain the day of the fanfest (apparently) for a little pennant and baseball or go to the Home Run Derby to get a lanyard and case to hold the commemorative ticket.
I guess for the All-Star Game weekend, the actual game has been forgotten.

Okay, sorry for our rant there folks.
Back to the main topic and geared @ Indyreds:
Sounds like the all-star weekends you've gone to have been awesome. Unless the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs are planning a surprise signing, they haven't set up any fan-player interaction. The website says that players "are not expected to sign any autographs at the team workout." That doesn't stop the players, though, from signing on their own accord/time. My best bet may be at the workout or before the game.

Sorry to hear it went so rough there. I only hope that they get a lesson there that this type of game is for the fans! I know that it is nice to be rewarded as a player, but this is a fan event. What are they thinking? I am just glad that our local teams did a better job than that. I was thinking about taking time and try to travel to one again next year as they have been so fun. Reading what you guys are going through really makes me think twice as I would be very upset traveling some real distance and getting that type of player fan interaction!
