I am clearly outnumbered here, I guess I'll be quiet even though I am not knocking Lee, just trying to make a point, that's all. No need for everyone to get riled.

    BTW, sweet Bernier shield!

if that's how you feel, that's how you feel. there's nothing wrong with that. you have your opinions and others have theirs. as this thread is comprised primarily of player collectors, i'm sure we'd all appreciate if someone who pulled a card of our respective guys would feel the same way you do about moving it. i know i certainly appreciate the gesture when sellers seek me out.

    1. Lee is an awesome guy......an awesome rich guy who I'm sure worked very hard to have the ability to buy whatever he wants (forget the fact that he has the right to do so).

    2. Nobody has any more right to a certain card than anyone else. What would be the point of collecting if you were just handed everything you wanted.

    3. All the OP wanted was to find this card. He probably knew when he asked that it was locked up somewhere. I'm not quite sure where things got sidetracked.

Just think of all the Mason collectors who pull their hair out every time they see your sig.

I had asked them to please stay out of the auction to give me a better chance at winning it.

By luck for you that you don't collect other kind of players such as Patrick Roy: it is a total chase and battle when a Patrick Roy UD Shield card surfaced on the market (especially between 2003 and 2008, now the market is a bit more soft). If Bernier can be a regular NHL goalie, and put good stats, it will be more difficult to "control" the market (with more bidders... they won't all stay away from bidding).

WOW, that's an insane collection. Only thing I dislike about people like that is that serious player collectors will never have a chance at their whale. Just because someone has more money than you and wants it just because it's cool is rediculous IMO.

    1. Is there any reason to collect hockey cards - other than they are "cool"? They have no functionality whatsoever - so I could not come up with another reason to collect them.

    2. My collection of shields is no more and no less "serious" than that of a player collector or a set collector. They are just different types of collections.

    3. To make assumptions about an invididual's finances ("someone has more money than you") based on their collection of hockey cards is a bit much - at least for me.

    4. I am primarily a player collector ( www.therussianrckt.com ). I never expect to be able to obtain every card that I want...especially 1/1's - I don't even bother adding them to my wantlist. If I can snag one, I consider it a bonus.

    5. While I do not agree with your overall opinion, I can understand where it comes from and appreciate you posting it - opposing points of view lead to good discussion.

    6. thru 20. What everyone else said.

    21. Just finished this little project....is it wrong?

I think it's great if you up the value on case breakers by buying this stuff at high value. But if you have hockey cards worth 10-100X my net worth then yes comparative finance does enter the fray, in a comparative way.

Lee I am disappointed you do not have the 21/99 card. I think copy #22 must be added to that stable.
