Hawks, SC repeat.
just reading NHL.com and seems like chicago is losing alot of key players,
Already Toews has watched GM Stan Bowman trade away Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel, Andrew Ladd, Kris Versteeg and Colin Fraser. Adam Burish signed in Dallas and John Madden won't be returning either.
Think they could have what it takes to even make it to the stanley cup next year? let alone win it again?
your thoughts.......

I think alot of the cogs are gone. It possible but let see who they fill all those spots with before I reply. Dustin was a beast in the playoffs. Some of those players had nice seasons as well. One thing about the cap your team will not remain intact for long after you have a banner year.

I will not sit here and say I'm an expert or anything, but here's my logic. You have massive contracts on this team (Hossa, Campbell, Huet). If you could find a cap friendly team to take either Hossa or Campbell, it would free up a butt load of money in which you could've signed Big Dustin B and Kris Versteeg. Campbell was a flop in the playoffs, and with Keith and Seabrook locked in, And stealing back Nicklas from San Jose, I think Campbell would've been expendable. Furthermore locking up their young talent, instead of trading it away. Make sense?

Hawks fans must have faith in what the Bowmans are doing. Dale Tallon mad a real mess of the Hawks cap, which is why he is no longer around. But if you look at how the hawks got most of the palyers they traded away, they were mostly Hawks draft picks. the hawks may be unloading salary, but they have some real nice looking players coming up. I dont theink they will make the finals again, im guessing a 4 seed in the west. But in 2 years when these yuoung prospects start producing, im guessin the same thing will happen, they will be stocked and have to part with good players becasue of the salary cap

Why would you want to trade Hossa who is a proven veteran that plays both ends of the ice? I have said this many times Byfuglien and Versteeg are not as good as many people think they are. Buff was invisible for most of the season and Versteeg is not the top 6 forward many people think he is. The Hawks did not have to resign them as Buff has 1 year left and Versteeg has 2 years left on their contracts.
How can you say that Campbell was a flop? He was a team best +11 in the playoffs. You don't have to score to be affective.

Exactly. Better to pick up draft picks and prospects then some other teams dead contracts. I say they still make the playoffs and have a decent run (2nd or 3rd round).

ya that whole cap deal makes it very hard for a repeat of teams to get the stanley cup again. But then again, maybe tho your right dale tallon made a mess of the cap for the hawks and they are kinda forced to unload the players. Kinda bummer cause i really liked the whole group they had, and though hossa has been a little banged up the last couple years, that guy puts up some great numbers offensively.

I would think it will be a more difficult task with a lot of new players.....Who knows how the chemistry will be like.....
Thats a lot of new players to have in one year......
They could click right off....but could not....It will be interesting to watch though

It's hard enough to repeat success in this league even without a significant line up overhaul. They still have question marks at goalie pending a Niemi contract, but ultimately the necessary core of Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp, Bolland, Keith and Seabrook are all there. That alone is enough to put them in the discussion.
