    9 young yankees from ebay......

I realized that I had been paying so much attention to the vintage cards in my Yankees collection that I was missing some important cards of the CORE FOUR and a couple of the new young guys, so I found them on Ebay and they dribbled in over the last week or so. Here they are:

Great cards, I didn't realize all those guys were "home grown" Yankees. Do you collect cards of Yankees who started with other teams? How about if they have come and gone (e.g., Clemens, Damon, etc.)? If you know, what uniform is Cano wearing in the bottom left photo?

The Yankees have more "home grown" guys than people realize. Everyone seems to think the Yankees have all free agents, but right now their cather Posada, their other catcher Cervelli, their secondbaseman Cano, their shortstop Jeter, their leftfielder Gardner, thier starting pitcher Pettitte, their starting pitcher Hughes, their closer Rivera, their reliever Chamberlain, their reliever Robertson, plus other subs all are "home grown". This is actually a higher number than most teams.

As to the Cano uniform, i assumed it was in one of those early World Tournaments, but in reality i am not positive, its something you got my interest up in now, and I will have to look into that.

As to guys who played for the Yankees but didnt start with them, i go after the rookie cards and other cards of them on other teams if i really like the player. For instance, i have the 1984 Fleer Update Roger Clemens, and i have rookie cards of Sabathia, A-Rod, Tex, etc., but not everyone on the team. Once a player i really like on the Yankees goes to another team, i am always interested in putting their cards on their new teams in my collection, like right now i have some Matsui on the Angels cards in my collection, but all those go in my Misc Collection, and are NOT part of my Yankees collection. Many collectors consider every card of a player who ever played on their team to be part of their team collection. Its just a personal preference.

Marcus - as a followup to the post i made that i just quoted above, the answer to the uniform Cano is wearing is that its from the FUTURE'S GAME that is played by "future stars" in conjuction with the All Star game each year. Its the USA against the WORLD, and obviously Cano was on the World Team. There are memorabilia cards on Ebay with pieces of that World Team jersey on it, had i seen them before i bought this card, i would have gotten one of them instead of the one I got, but I really dont need both in my collection.
