Collecting after your PC player has been traded
As above, really.
I am a massive Flyers fan and not liking the fact that Gagne could be playing for a new team next season, so am wondering whether you guys (if you support the team your PC guy plays for might make it tougher) carry on collecting him after he's been traded or stop and just collect his cards prior to being traded.
Hope that makes sense.

i got lucky in that Lundqvist happened to play for the Rangers but not collecting your favorite player because of the team he's on is somewhat petty. if Lundqvist got traded, i'd still collect him. it's actually a very easy decision for me. did you collect your guy because of your team or because of him?
if team, move the PC and start a new one. if player, keep it going.

My PC guy was traded 4 times after I started collecting him, and then switch teams one last time via Free Agency (though, that was to go back to the Oilers). Didn't consider stopping once.

Hossa here. Still going.
I find the memorabilia looks much better with the mix of colours... can't wait for some Hawks stuff
The other thing is the way the NHL is now a days you may not want to be a player colector the way they move around.
If you don't want to follow them odds are at some point they will be on the move.Last edited by hossa18sens; 07-14-2010 at 03:27 PM.

ya i was kinda facing the same thing when turco hit the free agency and will play for another team, but, hey, he is still cool to me and i'll get jersey cards and auto's for whatever team he ends up with. Collect the player, not the team.
holy cow prime, thats a freaking sweeeeeet blake collection, congrats on that baby!!!!Last edited by sko789; 07-14-2010 at 03:33 PM.

To me my favorite players and favorite teams are two different entities. While I am a huge Oilers and Leafs fans, my favorite players have moved all over (Gretzky, Kurri, Fuhr, Belfour etc.). Never once did I stop collecting or liking a player because they changed teams, but that is because I liked everything about that player. If anything, I kind of like the different colours of jerseys and patches in my collection because of it. Even for most players I collect, it doesn't matter what team he is pictured with.

I am a life long leaf fan and really started collecting steen because he was my fav leaf. In the past i collected every current leaf and as soon as they were traded i got rid of them and got the new players coming in.
With steen that changed i was really angry when we traded him for essentially a nobody (sorry Derrick). I decided that i was going to continue with him and it was the best decision i ever made. I have been able to pick up a tonne of his stuff for WAY cheaper than when he was in TO. Not only that but i was able to acquire a boatload of rare cards because former collectors got rid of him when he left.
I picked 3 pc guys 2 years ago. All played for the leafs and now all 3 are gone. I also thought about collecting stalberg this year.
If you like the player who cares where they play. (unless its ottawa or montreal lol)
