Leafs sign big German forward - Marcel Mueller
The Maple Leafs continue to comb the depths of European hockey, plucking free agent forward Marcel Mueller from the Cologne Sharks of the German Elite League.
GM Brian Burke hasn’t been shy about taking a chance on players who could be considered late bloomers, landing goalies Jonas Gustavsson last year and Jussi Rynnas this year. Now Burke sounds excited about the 22-year-old Mueller, a 6-3, 220-pound winger who signed a two-year entry level deal with the Leafs on Wednesday.

Good signing in my opinion. We could also use a big winger and Mueller is massive! Hopefully he can handle the transition to the North American style of hockey.

I agree. I like the stats so far on this kid....and I like the fact that he's still a kid. Keep getting younger Burkey! Don't listen to the idiotic hypocrites that want 30+ year old has-beens and then run them out of town before season's end.
I also want to point out that Burke has mentioned during an interview that Germany is the next Sweden in terms of finding rare talent. Looks like this signing is a step in the right direction.

he is really a kid, he is like a big baby lol...2 years ago i talked with him before he goes from my home team to the Cologne Sharks, was funny...i saw him play for the Berlin Polar Bears and even the Cologne Sharks and he is a really good on, big, strong, fast and good hands and in my opinion he will go his way, after 1-2 seasons at the AHL...

Looking at his stats, it's a good pick-up by the Leafs. Cannot go wrong really with this.
He definitely has the size to compete. Time will tell if his skills are to match.

Seems like a no risk/potential high reward pick up. Only 22 and is a big winger that can hit and score from the sounds of it. Most likely will start in the AHL with the Marlies.
