when i do ttm autos, i never will send more than 2 cards and 2 pics or figures, ill max it usually at 4 items, ive had bj penn and randy couture sign 3 items each on 2 diff occasions over the past 12-14 months, i would never send more than 4 items a time, and i usually ask if they can personalize each item as well, i look at it as kind of a way that the athlete knows i wont try to re-sell the auto, and in person i will never try more than 2 per athlete, but on one case ive got charlie hough to sign 11 different cards at a minor league game once, and even offered him to keep whatever he liked, he told me he has most of the cards he ever sees, but he'd be glad to sign them all, and i thanked him as well. that's my 2 cents!
