AHHH nice and organzied
For the past 2 hours I have been going through my collection. Taking out all the cards in binders that are not of people I collect or trade bait and putting them in boxes. Then I made up the binders of RC/#ed/Insert/Base..Then each player got part of a shoebox for GU/AUtos..And I have one of those sports card wall frames coming im going to hang some of my colection on my wall. Its nice to be organzied..Time to start updating my site and building up my personal collection..take care fellow sports cards people..

I have been sorting my cards for weeks. I never seem to get them where I want them and I still feel unorganized. I think I am making things a little TOO complex. Heres how I got them now..Even If it is a hassle to keep them updated I will do my best.
I have one box dedicated to Game Used and Autos. This includes my personal collection but I keep them all together in the box.
I have one box for rookies only.
I have one small box for cards with more then one player on them.
I have one huge 4 spot box that has all my base cards in alphabetical order from A-M.
I have another box that contains N-Z.
I have one box right now dedicated to my three favorite teams(Cavs, Browns and Indians)
I have part of one box(one row) dedicated to Dan Marino and one that will be going to Jody Gerut. These included all of the Geruts and Marinos I have.
I have one box for cards of least importance such as racing, soccer, wrestling and tv cards.
I have a binder for my sets.
*Even though this sounds great it is hard to keep up and I don't have as many cards as I would like in the boxes so I use those card sponges to keep them in order. I think I will eventually alphabetise(sp) my indians, cavs, browns, rookies and will start a checklist for gerut and marino. Man I hate doing all this but I guess it needs it. I may quit and just organize my personal collection.I don't even know why I bother trying to keep my non PC organized just incase a trade is needed. I think it was easier putting them into teams but screw it. Who wants to buy 13,000 plus cards lol*
Sorry about all that. I think it is great you got yourself organized and hopefully you can keep it up.

I myself have all of my cards in binders and check binder is labeled with what is in it. I have all my sets in a binder for each set, then all my Patrick Roy cards in a set all unto themselves.
I also have just started entering my cards on ww.mycardcollection.ca so that way I will always know what I have (that is once I get them all entered in) :icon_surp

Yeah I have over 10,000 and it took me like a month on and off..If you put away a whole weekend and sit for more then 3 hours like I did then you may be able to do it..This is assuming you have somewhere near 10,000 which could be way off.

I don't have that many cards. But I have started to use the site www.mycardcollection.ca for sorting my cards. It takes a little more time, but it allows me to show off my collection (when I get it all on there) to other people. This really helps with trading and selling.

sounds awesome.. if i were you i would catalouge everything so you know what you have... i buy a thousand count box of assorted stars and commons every week just to go through it. I sort them by last name, put them into an excell spreadsheet, pick out the ones i want to keep out and put the rest in boxes in my closet

Wow I don't buy that many cards, but I like to keep all of my cards in binders and plastic sheets. I have a brother that likes to look at them sometimes and with using the plastic sheets I have a better chance of keeping the clean.
