Im not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes.

I want to know if you can sell stuff on ebay with a "Personal" account? I have went to the paypal website and read all the FAQ's and I didn't come up with a satisfactory answer. I'm sure someone here can give me a quick, easy answer. And if so, are there any fees charged for selling? I just don't see how sellers are supposed to make money with all the fees they are charged.

Yes, you can, but you wouldn't be able to accept credit card payments, only funds from the buyer's PayPal account, and maybe eChecks but I'm not sure. And yes there are seller fees to accept funds in a Premier paypal account. For most fees are $.30 + 2.9% of the transaction amount. No fees for personal accounts, but again you can't accept credit cards.

Alright thanks. I just don't see how one is supposed to make money selling cards if the majority of cards that do end up selling are in the <$1-$5 range...And on top of this Ebay fees.

On small cards figure the Paypal fees and Ebay listing fees into your shipping and handling.. I start all my auctions at 99 cents and charge 2.00 S/H and 30 censt each additional auction unless it is a higher value item where insurance will be added. I make it mandatory on cards over 20.00 as I believe insurance is for the sellers protection not the buyers. Single cards cost no more than 80 cents to ship including packaging. The rest is more than enough to cover Ebay fees and Paypal fees. Aside from that all your fees are deductible at theend of the year. Using Paypal is still cheaper than processing your own credit cards.

I have a question too. I upgraded to the premium. if i get a balance transfer, do i still get charged fees? Thanks, Brian

Cardboard, yes you do pay a fee on all payments recieved. You have to pay for all the people using free accounts, but you can accept more than 500 dollars a month in payments and are able to get the debit card and use it to get 1.5% back on your purchases with it couple that with the small amount of interest you can earn off your account you can also offset some of your fees.

What do you mean the fees are deductible at the end of the year?

If you operate your Ebay sales as a business which if you are selling over 400.00 per year you suppoused to be. All your fees associated with that business are tax deductible, this includes your Ebay fees and Paypal fees.
