    Arizona Diamondbacks, REALLY?

Heard this on the radio today so had to post it..

    http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/to...-dan-haren.php

The Dbacks executive Derrick Hall who is supposely very high up in the organization said about trading Dan Haren:

It would need to be, in our opinion, an A-plus deal. I think ideally what we would ask for is major league-ready pitching, be it starters and/or bullpen and prospects. Volume doesn't matter, it doesn't need to be four, five or six guys, it's really about the quality.

SERIOUSLY? This guy has to be out of his mind, Dan Haren who is 7-8 with an ERA approaching 5? Why does this guy have a job, he clearly knows absolutly nothing about Baseball

Someone should tell him he's looking at getting a C-C+ level prospects and that nobody in their right mind will give any real talent for a guy is who is incredibly mediocre this season

well.. what's the guy supposed to say?
"our ace sucks. omar minaya, if your listening, we'll trade him straight up for ruben tejeda and chris carter"

I know he's having a bad season, and what he's saying doesn't make much sense, but in his position.. thats what you have to say

No he's not suppose to say that, but this is the same team that virtually traded Max Scherzer & Daniel Schlereth for Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy, it makes no sense to want the world for Haren, and it's just running teams off when you say you will only trade him for a Cliff Lee type package

so he's supposed to say that they just want to get rid of him?

this is wht all teams do when shopping their stars.

Where did i say they are suppose to get rid of him? PLEASE show me where i said it

Thats just it, he's not a 'star' and they just sound like fans of the team thinking they'll get the world for him...

They are expecting to much, its like telling the Tigers 'We want Rick Porcello, Ryan Perry & Jacob Turner' or telling the Yankees 'We want Jesus Montero, Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes'

Lets be real, i already said you arent suppose to ask for nothing, but Dan Haren is no where near the level of Cliff Lee or Roy Halladay and apparantly Arizona thinks he is

I'd say that too if I was the GM (or whatever position this guy has)....because I GUARANTEE YOU someone bites on him and gives up more than they should for Haren.

Besides, it's not like he's terrible. He's forced to go deeper into games than he should this year because the D-backs have no bullpen. His career numbers are hardly terrible. He's a solid pitcher having a bad season due to lack of a bullpen behind him.

Haren is worth more than 'C level prospects', let's be real here.

This is sad to to see for the D-backs. They really have had some tough breaks the last few years.

Magnificent is saying that the exec can't just come out and say, "We are just getting rid of Haren. Just offer us a low-A prospect and you can have him." He has to sell his point of getting something decent in return for Haren. Baseball is all about selling your point, like Jorge Posada did last night against the Royals with his tag.

I don't think he's expecting the packages handed over for Lee and Halladay but it's not like he has been a mediocre pitcher throughout his career. He has been above average on a terrible team for the most part.

No one's overpaying and the teams that might, Haren doesn't even want to go to..

He's a player that almost every season does worse in the 2nd half and he's due a bit of money for the production

And I agreed with him on that, but they want the same package as a Cliff Lee or Roy Halladay, no team in their right mind is giving up 3 bigtime prospects, they'd be lucky if someone offered 2

If there's a single contending team out there that offers a package that Arizona likes, Haren will waive his no-trade clause and leave. Arizona is the last place any pitcher wants to be right now considering starters essentially have to pitch 9 good innings an outing to get a win.
