    Trading Card Challenge! Try it!

Almost two years ago a friend of mine (Saints Fan) and I (Packers Fan, of course) decided to attempt to collect a rookie card for every player that played a snap for our teams from 1960 - Present.

The saints are only as old as 1964 so he got off easy!

Well we are almost done. I still need 14 out of the 522 Packers that have played at least one snap in an NFL game since 1960.

I learned more about my team than I could have ever imagined. I got a chance to learn about some players that was fascinating. I found out that some players were on my team and I had NO idea!

Some cards were obviously difficult to obtain. The Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Ray Nitschke and a few others were quite expensive. But, the thing I found the most interesting was the difficulty in finding the less well known players. It is hard to find a 1991 Pacific Johnnie Jackson #461. It did not cost me much...but it was hard to find.

Since there are new players every year this task is never ending...much to my Spouse's chagrine. :new_llyin

The web site that I found the most useful for rosters and research on players is:

    http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/rosters.nsf

I have a spreadsheet of all the Packers players if anyone wants to see it.

I recommend you give it a try....it was a great adventure for me!

Ive been at my current collection since 2000, Im out to collect all Bama Alumni cards period. My hardest cards to find to date were 71 and 72 playing card decks featuring Alabama players, I searched forever and finally located them on Beckett(EDIT:Guess I had Beckett on my mind when I wrote this I actually found the cards on ebay) a year ago. Its a large feat and I set it actually because I knew it could never be done, Im at 100,000 cards now.......mostly commons but each one priceless to me. The 2 big rookies that elude me so far are Namath 65 topps and Hutson 55 topps, I made a deal here for a 55 Hutson PSA 5 but the deal fell through after it was posted.
I have obtained atleast 1 certified auto of every Bama player so far issued with the exception of Namath, Starr, Hannah and Derrick Thomas. I have in person autos of those 4 though and a nice pic of Starr signing the menu from a local Restaraunt I saw him at (it was the only thing I had handy at the time)
I think Im pretty close to having atleast 1 of every Bama player ever to have a gu as well but not positive on that note.
I have a complete list of Alabama Alumni ever issued on NFL cards up to current releases and am working on a CFL list now if anyone is intrested in Alabama.

    Nice Topic Supply!

I set a goal for myself to get every Redskins card ever made. The team is 73 years old this year, so it's obviously a never-ending task. Especially what with the new sets that have 5 parallels for every card, and the 1/1's! I don't really chase the super-low #d cards as much as others. My collection (about 2-3 years old) is now strong at about 5000 cards, with more trades coming in a few days a week.

One way to do this is trading bulk commons, either for teams or players. Sure, I now have several thousand extra Redskins cards, but every few months I go through and put them up on ebay as lots, and score a little paypal money for more cards!

It's a tough job, but with trading sites like this, it's a relatively cheap hobby.
