DWade: If we lose a couple in a row, it will be like the World Trade coming down
lol, what was Wade thinking?
Link: http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/07/18/h...than-expected/
Original Quote
"We're going to be wearing a bullseye,'' Wade said. "But that's what you play for. If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again. When the schedule comes out, people will be looking for the Lakers and Heat, to see when they play us. I feel like I'm a new player in Miami. That's how excited I am.''
Revised Quote
"We're going to be wearing a bullseye. But that's what you play for," Wade said. "We enjoy the bullseye. Plus, there's going to be times when we lose 2-3 games in a row, and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again, but it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games.

i think he used very very poor judgement in his quote as that is one of the worst things this country has seen...ouch. he really shouldn't have went there.

He thinks of himself and his team WAY too much. Nothing should be compare with 9/11. The world would not stop if he loses 10 games in a row 'cuz most of us don't care.

Unfortunate choice using the WTC as an example.
At some point next season the Heat will go through a rough patch losing maybe say 3 of 4 or 4 of 5. That will really be interesting to watch.

He obviously wasn't using his brain when he said that - even his revised quote isn't too good...teams go through rough patches, but it's not the end of the world...look at last year's Celtics - 27-27 after Christmas, and came within 5 points of winning another NBA title...so, a 5-game skid isn't the end of the world, or anything close to it.

I still don't know why he chose the 9/11 events to even make a comparison. In the end, it's just a game, but 9/11 wasn't.

You can't win every game.

I'm not a heat fan or anything, and he definitely shouldn't have used that example, that's for sure, but I think he was just trying to illustrate how much the league and fans expect them to win now. Of course losing ALL your games isn't even close to 9/11, but it's true that everyone is kinda waiting for them to lose a couple games in a row to bag on them and start speculating how it was the biggest mistakes of their career.
It was a bad choice of analogy but I don't think he meant anything more than implying everyone will make it a big deal when they lose.

Wow. Alright, Wade. The Heat losing a couple games in a row is the equivalent of 3,000 people losing their lives?
What a moron.
