Crazy weekend in Open Wheel!
While I did enjoy watching the Brickyard, I think the real story lines of the weekend came from open wheel. Not one, but 2 contrevercial calls!

Will Power had the BEST car all race, again. I personally don't think it was a block, but as Barnhart says...
"...we divide the course physically in half. And on the road courses from the braking point to entry, they're told you can only be on the inside half if you're attempting to overtake someone. If you're on the inside half while someone's trying to overtake you, it's blocking."
Idk... Will Power really didn't help the cause. After the race he saw the reply and said something along the lines of. "Yep...Thats a block."
On a positive note Milka Duno spun 2 turns in. It looks like after she was put on probation she may have to call it quits pretty soon.
Rules are rules I guess...
Speaking of rules...

Ferrari didn't seem to want to follow them this year. It seems like Ferrari can't win a race without having to screw it up with something stupid like team orders. F1 fined them 100,000, but with the budget of Formula 1 that really doesn't do much.
If you ignore that little tidbit it was a great race. Lots of action, and Lewis didn't win, which is always nice for me!

Milk and donuts need to get off the track. And Helio totally got robbed-the Indycars actually had some good racing at the end on a street course (sorta) and its deemed blocking lol. Best part was Helio going apenut crazy and grabbing the security dude ha

LOL, that was pretty funny!
I caught it with about 4 to go, coming off the caution.
I thought Power (he's my favorite driver: #12 Red & Black Verizon Penske....who drives a similar Cup car?) had it in the bag there, but he had to check up a little.
Bolded statement is so true (below).
I call this a 'Regan Smith Deal', he got the win, but not the trophy.

Is that a refference to Talladega, when Stewart should have gotten a penalty but instead was given the win.

Im not really sure what you mean by sorta good racing. I thought the racing was very good, but I think that all the Indycar road races have been successful this year. Paul Tracy was jumping the curbs every lap sending his car airborn, there was fights for position on every lap, and there was just the right amount of strategy between the red tires and black tires that made it perfect. Your not going to see people passing each other on every lap in Indycar because it isn't NASCAR, its road racing. It takes a handful of laps just to set a guy up to pass him, unlike NASCAR where you know whats going to happen every turn. idk sorry that this was a long reply.

To make a statement that it is positive for ANY driver to have to call it quits in a series that is stuggling (and for anyone who thinks the IRL isn't struggling you have your head buried in the sand) to get teams and for that matter fans, is the epitome of asaninity. It's the same deal we have in all 3 of the major NASCAR series where some teams are underfunded and can't compete with the big well funded teams. Regardless if you like a driver or you don't (and there are several in most series each of us don't care for), if the smaller teams start going away in ANY series, then the sport is in trouble.
