It depends. Sometimes they never get the cards signed for some reason or another. If that happens they will offer you a substiture card. Sometimes the replacement card will be better than the original card and sometimes not.

If you are trying to complete a set I do not think it is smart to buy a redemption card. For example: Let's say you want to complete the 2004 Playoff Contenders set. Kellen Winslow Jr. for some reason or another did not sign his cards prior to release of the cards. So he has a redemption card. The redemtion card is selling for between $95-$250 on EBay and other auction sites. Let's just say for the moment that he never signs the cards!!!! You would be out the money and without the card! It is smarter to wait until the card goes live and buy the actual card.

Now if you pull the redemption card...hey...sell it or send it in..you have nothing to lose at that point.
