Report: Chris Chelios retiring
ESPNChicago.com
Chris Chelios will retire as a player but join the Detroit Red Wings front office, according to a report on Fox Sports Detroit.
The station said Chelios announced his new role on television after singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at the Cubs-Reds game at Wrigley Field on Friday, and also quoted Red Wings general manager Ken Holland as confirming Chelios' return in an as-yet untitled role.
While singing during the seventh-inning stretch, Chelios wore a Bob Probert Blackhawks jersey backward -- with "Probert" on the front -- in tribute to the late Blackhawks and Red Wings player.

Anyone who can remember him in his prime knows he is a prototypical defense man (imho). And I totally respect his desire to play for so long.
Hall of famer without a doubt.

Chris Chelios had a great career! And I agree, he deserves to be in the HOF 100%. Hes definitely one of a kind, playing for that long.

I wasn't disrespecting his desire to play for that long merely saying that he seemed like he was going to be around forever...
And yup, the Probert jersey was a very nice touch by Chelios. Have a good new career Chris even if it is with the Wings ;)
