Advice On My Hobby Direction
My main goal this past couple of months has been to complete the 09-10 Ice rookie set. I've truly enjoyed building the set (still got some /99's to kill) and absolutely love the look of the cards. It's my favorite set I've ever done.
After hearing that Ice is going to be put into Black Diamond and no longer its own true product, I thought that I might build each Ice rookie set from each year as sort of a homage to the brand and because I love the Ice rookies.
The Years are:
1996-1997
1997-1998
2000-2001
2001-2002
2003-2004
2005-2006
2007-2008
2008-2009
2009-2010
My question is, do you think this can be done? I'm not sure if I'll be able to find them all. This project is going to take awhile and I know that, especially with getting the /99's as their expensive and I'm only 18 and will be in college. Will I be able to get them all? Will some not pop up anymore after awhile? This will be my only project so I'd really like to hear what you guys think before I start it.

that will be a daunting task. I'm sure it can be accomplished it might take you a while though. If this is the only project(s) your working on sure give it a attempt. Good luck

I think it can be done. Make it a long-term project and don't worry if the odd one here or there eludes you for a while. Obviously the Crosby & Ovechkin are going to be the two big ones - maybe save those for once you're making the big bucks after you earn your degree. :)
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I think it's challenges such as this one that makes collecting in general so exciting. Good luck if you decide to do this.

Do-able, but a lot of those /99 have made there way to PC's and arn't leaving. You may be paying a real premium for stuff like Malkin, Toews, Price, Kane.....and 05-06 will be BRUTAL!!!!!!! If you decide to go ahead good luck and hopefully you can get a few more complete!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, that sounds like a fun project. Don't forget to be willing to trade creatively. If you can't afford to buy the big cards, look for other ways to trade for them (time, effort, cards, mixture of many things).
Best of luck to you on it! Bring on the challenge!

this sounds like a great idea (i am making the RC sets for SP Authentic) and it is definetly a long term project and could be expensive depending how intensely you pursue it from the get go.
having said that, I have about 5 Ice Premieres from 06-07 til the present that I'd love to trade you for any SP Authentic FW RC (non autos)

Thanks a lot guys for all your support! I've gotten a nice jump on it so far and I've come up with a plan. I'm going to do something like buying one Ice rookie out of /99 a month, starting with the cheapest ones and moving upward toward the bigger dogs. Hopefully some nice progress comes in the next couple of months.

I love long term set collectors. I am trying to get every rookie review patch of all years. And I, as well, buy one big one a month. I see you are selling your Game Jersey set, that should help to get funds or trades for some decent to big guns. Good luck!
