Arbitrator sides with NHL; Kovy deal nixed
Figured this deserves its own thread now...
An independent arbitrator has ruled in favour of the National Hockey League in the case of Ilya Kovalchuk. Richard Bloch, the arbitrator, ruled today that Kovalchuk's 17-year, $102 million contract with the New Jersey Devils should be voided, so the 27-year old sniper will once again be on the free agent market.
Hoo boy. Can't WAIT to see what happens next.

Or something like that.
Honestly, even though he's technically a FA again, I am sure he'll work it out with NJ.
For those thinking he could go back to LA, I guess there is a SLIM chance of that but he would pretty much have to beg LA at this point and that ain't gonna happen.

Dear Kovalchuk,
Your wife is a singer. She wants to be in LA. You have an actual chance of winning there.
That being said, you only care about yourself so go back to Russia.
Sincerely,
Someone sick of you.

Kovalchuk will look extremely bad if he doesn't sign with the Devils after saying "it's not about the money".

I'm sure they'll come up with something acceptable in short order.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
