Why don't sellers on eBay ship to Australia?

Quick demonstration:

Trading Cards on eBay Australia yields 1,927 items. (Includes all auctions that will ship to Australia)

While on eBay.com there are over 4 million results.

Only 1,927 people out of 4 million chose to allow shipping to Australia? why?

Shipping costs are paid for by the customers.

I shipped stuff the other day to south korea and japan, they paid shipping, which was $4.00..

Input please!~

Side-note: 99% of the auctions from eBay Australia are sellers from Australia.

simple it takes to long and most complain when it takes 3-4 weeks to ship there after they refused to pay for the quick tracked shipping...to much hassle is why i dont ship outside the states

alot of people will waive that if you send them a message asking them. i say i dont ship international but if someone messages me and asks i will usually say yes.

As a seller shipping overseas some don't want the headache. Some people complain as mentioned that shipping time takes too long, or the shipping is too much. Now if the seller takes the cheaper way out and does not send in a manner that can be tracked they have no recourse if the "customer" tries to do a charge back for goods not received...

I've only once shipped to Australia and the member contacted me through e-bay. The buyer had over 500 feedback, so he seemed trustworthy...after doing it that one time I didn't realize how much of a pain it was. Filling out custom forms and wondering if your package ever made it. In the future, I will only do international shipping on a case by case basis.

Filling out custom forms takes one minute?

I don't get the issue as long as they have good feedback. If they want to purchase a card, state in your auction that it cost extra for registered mail. Than you are protected.

because no ebay seller wants to get dinged on shipping rating. most people in australia know it takes forever to get mail from the states and they still leave a seller with one star for shipping because it takes the post office (not the sellers fault) too long to deliver.

Because especially on eBay you will have no proof the item was sent and it arrived and sometimes it could take weeks to get to Australia. I sold one auction on eBay to Australia, $500 mind you, and told him to pay for shipping with tracking which he did....but it's $25.

Before the sell, I made sure the guy sent extra money for shipping. Lucky it was only one card he bought and shipping was only a couple cents more than shipping in the US. If the package was a couple ounces heavier shipping cost jumps dramatically.

The customs form took me a few minutes to complete.

It comes down to each person's preference. When I go to the PO, I don't like the hassle of having to do paperwork. I want to go in, drop off my packages and get out. To me a making a couple dollars to sell a card internationally isn't worth the hassle. Just my opinion.
