4-team trade is now final!!! Pacers/Nets/Rockets/Hornets

    Pacers send:

    Troy Murphy

    Pacers receive:

    James Posey & Darren Collison

    Nets send:

    Courtney Lee

    Nets receive:

    Troy Murphy

    Rockets send:

    Trevor Ariza

    Rockets receive:

    Courtney Lee

    Hornets send:

    Darren Collison & James Posey

    Hornets receive:

    Trevor Ariza

    Other Notes:

No draft picks involved. Pacers are trying to either send T.J. Ford to one of these teams (or potentially to some other team in a totally different trade) or negotiate a buyout with him. The Hornets also have traded Julian Wright to the Raptors for Marco Belinelli.

This trade epitomizes why some teams will always fail and some teams will always be competitive.

Houston dumps salary and picks up a comparable player in the process. It looks like Ariza might have been a mistake for Houston, and they have quickly rectified it.

The Nets pick up a very good player, but he plays the same position as the guy they just drafted #3 overall. Give the kid a chance to develop. It's fine to have future role players or fringe starters come along slowly, but your potential stars need minutes. It's not like the Nets will be able to compete with the Heat, Magic, Celtics, or Bulls over the next couple seasons. Just let Lopez, Favors, Harris, etc. grow together. Don't try and build a first-round exit team as fast as you can. That's a recipe for disaster, just ask the Knicks.

And the Hornets... good lord. Squandering your best trade asset to appease your star that's going to bolt in two years anyways when you have ZERO chance at winning a title is absolutely terrible. Ariza was horrible last year. Even if he returns to form, he's not a player that puts the Hornets in the Lakers' league. They're just compounding their problems. The Hornets would have been much, much, much better off just rebooting the system and dumping CP3 and Okafor. They are not going to be able to win a title in the next three years. Building for the future >>>>>>>>>> acquiring an okay player hoping it will convince CP3 to stay with a 40-win team long-term.

Agree, Ariza is not a player that really would automatically make CP3 want to stay in New Orleans--especially when at the same time they toss CP3's little buddy Collison out the door real fast.

ugh i wish the hornets wouldnt have got rid of collison since i think paul's outta there after his contract is up
the hornets could use TJ since they have no back up pg or sg

oh man thats good news about julian wright, i was hoping he'd get traded since he's starting left bench on the hornets... hopefully he'll be getting some playing time in toronto (im sure he will, being that its the raptors lol)

Pacers building up a nice lil' roster!

Darren Collison, Danny Granger, Lance Stephenson, Roy Hibbert, and Tyler Hansbrough, that's a nice starting line-up in 2-3 years!

I think it would be good for N.O. if they'd get Ford, but I'm not sure how interested they'd be in him. Trevor Ariza won't keep Paul down there though when he can go to New York with Amare and possibly Melo.

But yes, the Pacers are starting to form a nice team (not including T.J. Ford below):

    PG- Collison, Stephenson, Price
    SG- Rush/George/Dahntay
    SF- Granger/Dunleavy/Posey
    PF- Hansbrough/Rolle/McRoberts
    C- Hibbert/Solo Jones

not too bad, especially since we have a TON of $$$ to spend next season, plus we shed $4 million off our salary from this trade.

winner in this trade was Indiana, they did give a very good and under rated big man but Collison played great last year when Paul was out.
Houston got the short end in this trade unless Ariza had a really big contract which I think he did. Im really glad the Lakers didnt get Collison but teams and GM's dont want to trade with the Lakers after Jerry West gifted the Lakers back to backs in the form of Gasol for Kwame Brown.

Isn't it obvious? Collison was only good because he had the almighty CP3 as his mentor
