Best printer to use for printing Customs?
Hey guys!
Since CIC's seem to be a big wave in the TTM hobby, I was wondering if yu guys could give me some tips and insight in the type of printers you guys use.
What's the best to use?
Cheapest price along with high quality?
Also, id like to know best type of paper/stock to use for printing out CIC's.
Thanks so much in advance everyone!

In my experiences, overall, you can't beat an HP printer. The ink is cheaper, and HP generally prints photos better, than a Canon, or Kodak. I don't bother printing my own anymore, I just order the prints through AdoramaPix for next to nothing, and have them delivered in three days.. Saves me the hassle of dealing with paper and ink. HP has a printer out (I can't remember the model) but it's like $55 at Walmart, and it has a scanner, and prints photos beautifully, my mom has one, she loves it.

Ok..so you just come up with your custom stuff, upload it to that site and then order prints?
and is it normal glossy paper that's used for auto's?Last edited by IzzyFranchise; 08-11-2010 at 04:31 PM.

AdoramaPix? So, there isn't a hassle about copyrights and all that "fun" stuff?
I had a CANON printer for about 5 or 6 years, then it died. I loved that thing. Then I bought an HP Photosmart printer. For being a PhotoSMART, it wasn't very bright. The HP product was horrible from day one...I should have taken it back (my bad). The photos it printed, when it printed them correctly looked fantastic, but the machine it self was not worth the trouble. I owned it for just under 2 years before it kicked the bucket on me, and of course, my luck, it dies on me right when I put all brand new ink cartridges in it. Note: it also originally 'died' on me after 3 months...I made HP make good on it.
I just bought a Canon, all-in-one and it also prints beautifully.
What it comes down to is personal preference. Some will have a horrible time with Canon, some will not. Same goes for HP and Epson. So far, the print quality b/w the Canon and HP have been equal and very good.

I;d say have them printed and shipped to you, but if you want them printed yourself, go wit a printer that has good print quality with ink that isnt too costly.

I'm on my third HP printer (this one is a Photosmart Premium all-in-one) and I love it. Really great quality. However, I'm starting to lean toward the idea of ordering my prints online. The cost is much higher per card when you print them yourself.

Yup. You can pick whatever paper you want, glossy, matte, luster etc. It's all on some quality Kodak photo paper.
And believe it or not, Adorama doesn't care about the copyright BS. I think they realize there is really no way to tell if it's "copyrighted" or if you actually own the images, I think they just like the business. Never upload them to Walgreens/CVS/Walmart to pick up at the store in an hour, they'll crucify you at the store if they don't cancel your order before it processes, and to upload them to Walgreens and have them shipped to you takes like 9-10 days total turnaround time, so I really recommend Adorama.
