Nolan Ryan
I keep seeing returns on SCN and was wondering whether or not these are autopens or real autos. I have always heard that you get an autopen unless you send with a fee which would make sense to me? Is this correct?

To the best of my knowledge you are correct and you have to send your item/request/fee to his charity and not the team. On fanmail.biz and SCN the Ryan preprints always pop up every now and again as "successes". I know everytime they start trickling in I always have to look twice.

I sent Nolan a nice letter asking for his autograph last April (I did not include cards and/or pics!) and received the items shown below. The pic is the real deal and not a PP.

man $35!!! i know he's worth it but dang.. Thats seems like a lot for my penny pinching ( u know what ) to fork over for a autographed card.
i just started a few weeks back, sending to players that require a $5 fee & i dont even like that! lol

You betcha! The first thing I did when I got it was look at the picture sideways to see the difference of the ink against the picture. If you read the letter, he is also telling you that he "hopes you enjoy the autograph for years to come." Now again, that was over a year ago so I don't know what he is doing now...
