Getting A BaseBall Signed @ A Game, Pen Or Sharpie
Going to a Jays game in a couple weeks. I thought it would be cool to show up early at batting practice and try to get an autograph. But I was faced with this decision. Pen, or sharpie?
I heard that pen is better, but smudges, and sharpie bleeds and makes the auto look duller by sinking into the baseball.
Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Either or.I have used both and there really isn't that much of a difference,I had an Evan Longoria signed with a sharpie almost 2 years ago and it still looks fresh,had a Nolan Ryan signed in pen 3 years ago and that also looks fresh.I would go with the sharpie though as it forces the signer to write bigger and bolder.

I have always used Sharpies for cards and photos, pens for baseballs. An official major league baseball will fade or bleed over time, the baseballs autograhed in pen last longer. I have heard a lot of people starting to get what they call the "china baseballs" signed, they are not official major league baseballs but look the same (except for the logos) and are much cheaper. I've never gotten one of those signed so I can't speak to that.

Do not use Sharpies for balls. I have collected autographs for the last 4-5 years before I got back into cards. I have signed baseballs in sharpies and in pens. All of my sharpie balls except 1 have faded while all of the ones that are pens are in perfect condition. Also the perfect pen is the bic cristal blue, they are perfect for signing baseballs.
