It's certainly possible that's the case, but most of these so-called "hot packs" deliver something far less interesting. You may get your three YGs in a hot YG pack sale, but chances are you'll have never heard of those three players.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

If it were any "decent" player, there's no way someone would list it as a mystery shield hot pack. It wouldn't make any sense financially to hide the identity of someone like Tavares/Kane/Niemi etc...
It would though if you were trying to move a low end player for more than its worth.
If they're posting it as a hot pack, then you know the seller already knows which shield it is, it's been pulled/purchased and repacked, there's no other way of guaranteeing it.

WOW...weighting packs of card is crazy. that thought never even crossed my mind, how would they know what a NON-shield pack even weights???? Is the person selling the "HOT PACK" a top-seller on ebay??? I wouldn't do it but thats only because I don't have the funds to take that kind of risk. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

Lol.
Do you really think you will get a Tavares shield in a Hot pack/shield box ???
Use your logic...
Hot packs = scam.
You will get what the hot packs says, but its gonna be crap.

Was the person trying to ask what if Ultimate only had 1 of 1 shields in their checklist. How much then would we be willing to pay for a pack knowing there are only 1 of 1 shields in the product?
so if there were 500 players in the league, there would only be 500 packs. you could get a scrub shield or a shield of Tavares, Duchene, etc. but given there are only 500 packs, I think each pack would end up going for $800 or maybe even a $1000.
So instead of calling them hotpacks, I would call it a product where only sheilds were in it and I would price it at $1000 a pack. Hope that makes sense....

Regular pack price. It'll just end up being a regular pack then you can leave bad feedback so others will stay away.

Are you asking a theoretical question or real world. If the question was "If UD made a set with 500 cards, all 1/1 shields, what would it sell for?" I'd say you're looking at an $800-1000 a pack assuming some greats, all current stars & such. If you're asking "What should an ebay guarenteed Shield pack sell for?" Then a fool an his money are soon parted.
