Get To Know That Band - Thread

Here's my pitch. Love music? Know all the classics, some unknown names, some local names? Most of us do.... But for everyone there is always one or more bands that we have just never gotten the chance to know. You always mean to get back on listening to them, but never find the time to sit down and listen to some good tunes by whoever it may be.

I'm starting this thread so hopefully people without the knowledge of a certain band can be helped out by other members who may have a very vast, or even good enough knowledge. Hoping the way this will work is that you name a band that you have the same problem with, and ask if anyone knows of them. Post what you want to know (ie: some good songs, just the hits, singles, unpopular songs, band history, member names, etc.) And hopefully one of the next members will be able to pick it up.

I'll start things off........ I've always wanted to learn some stuff by Tool.
I'm gonna be honest and say all I know is Schism and Vicarious (off Guitar Hero World Tour) but you can never really pay attention to the songs real well if you are concentrating on playing them..... So I was hoping to get some good songs, either hits or other really good stuff by them from another member. Feel free to reply back with a band you may want to know more of.

A very good band. Some of my favs are Stinkfist, Forty Six & Two, and Sober.

Several I've always thought I should listen to more...Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard. Always hear they're "musician's musicians" and are really good, just never got around to checking out much of them.

Im listening to them now, their one release "Opiate" You def need a snickers if you listen to them cause it can be a while for a song off their latter releases to finish up. Very complex drumming, shredding guitars, bass lines that will leave you numb and the vocals... def worth reading in what he puts down. Interesting stuff.

ALL of the tool CD's are awesome. Also be sure to check out maynards other former and current side projects, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

maynard is a crazy dude ha but i dont know much tool either.. sober is def my favorite song. awesome song with truth hahaha i never got into perfect circle much. didnt they also used to have twiggy from marilyn manson??
