Coming back to the hobby! :)

So,... I don't really know where to start. I got back into collecting from 05-06 Cup as Crosby and Ovy got me watching NHL again after the lockout (leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when players and owners can't decide how to split the money THE FANS give them,...). However, I realize how much I enjoyed the sport.

I would appreciate some info - on this thread or through PM would do fine (feel free to PM me offers). I realize I enjoy a small amount of cards I REALLY like, so I will focus on the higher end.

Could you guys give me a hand in figuring out how to enjoy the hobby again? Also, would be great to hear thoughts about pricing and interest from 05-06 Cup and higher end products in general.

I am thinking of buying a few cases of 05-06 Cup or the upcoming Cup release,... not sure which way to lean. Some thoughts about that would be great too!

I hate AU RC Photoshoot pieces,... so I will stick with more limited AU RC's.

Always interested in Shiny 05-06 Cup stuff,... also want to collect, Kovalchuk, Malkin, Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman, Sakic.

First off, welcome back to the hobby.

Second, regarding the bolded part there - this hobby is what you make of it and ultimately you know best as to what makes you happy and puts a smile on your face. Like hard-signed autos of Player X? Go get 'em. Enjoy busting tons of wax and trading it for PC stuff? Go for it. Like to spend as much time just talking about the hobby and the game as you do actualyl trading? You're in the right place. :) We all find our joys in our own way with the hobby - it's up to you to find yours.

Welcome back! This year's the Cup has been a long time coming, but should be a great product. You're getting back in time for an exciting 2010/11 season as well... great rookie crop this year!

Welcome Back! Personally, I'd go with a case or two each of 05-06 and 09-10 The Cup if you do have the money for it. There looks to be a LOT of great stuff in this years edition including 05-06 style autos of some HUGE names. At the same time, you don't want to kick yourself for not at least TRYING 05-06 with Ovy and Crosby RCs in there. That's why I'd try to split it up if you can afford it.

If I were you, I would stay away from the cards and get acutal GU Jerseys. You always seem to be a high roller, so don't waste it on cards. Put it in the actual jerseys. Why settle for a cut-up piece when you can have the whole thing?

Well, let's play again, I'll set the over/under for when you post your next "leaving the hobby thread" at 5 months.

welcome back!!! good luck with your chase of the cup rookies...if i were you though?? just buy the ovy rookie and the crosby rookie..instead of taking a chance on a case which might not have either one of them in there..that is if you can afford to do it that way..and buy a case of this years cup..i am only getting three boxes ( which is a huge gamble lol ) but from what i am hearing it's going to be nice...good luck..

OK - I eat my words. I think that means that I should work harder and not have time to think about cards! I enjoyed buying and selling too much. Now I just want to buy and keep (if it's possible).
