    05-06 Series 1

    Hey folks,

There's an LCS down the street that has sealed boxes of 05-06 Series 1 at $250 a pop. I wasn't really into the hobby 5 years ago but I know that's kind of the holy grail of boxes with a possible Crosby hit. I guess my question is, is it worth that kind of money? Or, if not, what would a realistic price be?

(If this breaks the forum rules I apologize and please delete the post. I thought it was a little blurry because it wasn't a BV inquiry.)

I would just go out and spend $250 on a Crosby YG instead. You're guaranteed of the only biggest hit of the product.

    IMO - Absolutly not.

Just buy the Crosby. When you consider that you get 6 per box, and there is 50 in the set.... you've got a 1-in-8.33 chance of getting it.

The problem is, the value of other hits drops so dramatically after the Crosby. There isn't another YG in that set you couldn't get for under $40 (and $40 is a stretch).

If OV was in Series 1, maybe.

If you look, you could probably pick up the whole set for less than the cost of two of those boxes.

It depends on whether the thrill of the pull outweighs the more simple joy of opening it up in the mail. You may be able to get another couple decent hits along the way.

I think it is worth it. not only do you have a chance of pulling a crosby yg (I have seen someone pulled 2 per box before). but you have a chance at some of the rare short print ud jerseys that sells for a good coin. Also I think there is a shot at the notable numbers autos numbered to a players jersey number that goes for a good amount.

The holy grail from the hobby boxes would be pulling a Crosby HG Young Guns /10.

IMO, I dont think I wouldn spend that money on the box. Its tempting though.

I go with most other people, and I would go buy one on SCF or on ebay.

And i agree with Sean (30ranfordfan). If Ovie's YG was in the same series as Crosbys, then i would definitely go for it.
