    Quick Rant

So I have been trading/buying/selling on here for just a little over a month or so and have already 20+ successful and smooth transactions... I really LOVE this site. I think it is great to have a forum like this.

However, I have also experienced the exact opposite as well. This has happened more than once and to be honest, it is getting a bit annoying. Here is an example (and I am sure some of you have shared the same experiences)

I see a card I am interested in and ask the seller to PM me a price. When I get the price, I will do one of 3 things:

    1) Accept the offer
    2) make a counteroffer
    3) pass, because I am not in the same ballpark and do not want to insult the seller with the price I am willing to pay.

So the last 3 times or so, I have taken option 3... simply replying "Thanks for the offer, but I will pass... thanks anyway!"

I then get replies that are along these lines: "I REALLY need to move these cards" or " I REALLY Need some fast PayPal" asking me to make an offer, so I do... apparently my offer is lower than they wanted to hear and then I get emails like

"Are you trying to lowball me??"
"Do you know how much this card sells for on eBay???"

If you dont want to hear MY offer, then dont ask for it

That is the annoying part... I PASSED on your offer... YOU asked me to counter because you are in "desperate" need of paypal. If X sells for whatever on eBay... the go sell it there. I am not buying these cards to resell them, I am buying them because I want them. I have even seen those sellers who "really need paypal" asking other sellers to PM the prices for cards they want to buy... guess you don't need the paypal all that much, huh?

Anyway... I'm done... just needed to vent, because things like that get kind of annoying at times. But other than that, this site is GREAT!

Well at feel lucky to get a response! Seems like there's too many members that just don't answer if they don't like your offer/price. Maybe the "price" they're looking for is actually 75% BV if selling and free if buying!!! At least a polite "No thanks" would be nice. I guess the 5 seconds it takes them to type that response is too long.

Anyhow, I do agree that the majority of the members here are very reasonable and pleasant to deal with.

Sounds to me like you are doing just fine. Some people are like that and you have to just ignore them and move on. As long as you are polite and maintain your own dignity then you always come out ahead.

In the future, rather than make a counter-offer, just tell them "What I was thinking I would pay and what you are asking is far apart and I don't want to insult you with what might be taken as a lowball offer." and leave it at that.

As for the "lowball" accusation, there isn't a personon this site that doesn't want to pay as little for a card as they possibly can. They will call your offer lowball but if they were buying the same card they would be happy to buy it for what you are offering. Ignore them and move on. There are too many good traders/sellers here to let a few bad occurences get you down.

    BTW, welcome to the site!

It is a little bit rude. I would just ignore the message and move on.

I agree with you all... MOST everyone on here has been great to deal with, its just the few that can ruin it at times...

and duane - I in fact have used almost those exact words, saying I don;t want you to feel insulted by the offer... but they will ask anyway, and then get mad at the offer... oh well, whatever! Just keep moving on I guess...

Like I said, just a litttle rant... this site is GREAT!

Its a tough market these days man but don't let it get to you. I use the motto like yours because I run into a lot of people who want to nickel and dime your offers. Just go by the theory that if I offer something to you thats all I am willing to pay. If you want to offer with me I will either accept or decline it. Its just that simple. No haggling no counters no nothing.
