Strasburg was far from a commodity. He was just another rookie pitcher surrounded by hype. It happens every year, a new pitcher gets called up-his stuff soars-he gets injured-his career is done. Lets look on a more long term point of view. Lets dip into the minor league stats and see who is more consistant. Sure there are a few guys having great years but Jason Heyward has played like this since high school.

Posey has had 1 good year. Look at card prices, theres a reason heyward stuff is worth alot more than these other guys. Only time can tell. Longevity is the word here and im interested to see who has it.

I certianly believe Posey was a front runner, i only did Sanchez/Heyward because duwal made a strong case already and i didnt feel the need to follow up his post with the same opinion (regarding who's having the better season between Heyward/Posey)
Like i'm mentioning below, I personally wouldn't vote for a guy based on team success, that apparantly is why they made the MVP award (i disagree with the voting thought process though) ROY award to me should be only made based on individual achievements, kinda like the Cy Young award
What does any of this have to do with who's having a better season? Strasburg was selling out games everytime he started, regardless of his unfortunate injury, he was a commodity, people went to the game just to see him, and only him...
What does long term stats or long term careers have to do with a 1 year award? Thats great Heyward has done so well since High School, however is has absolutly nothing to do with the ROY awardHidden Content

Strasburg was popular because of Hype. Think back to Nolan Ryan, he was a far better pitcher than Strasburg ever will be. Stephen Strasburg was a joke, i personally think its funny he got injured so early. I bet the guy that paid $16,400 for the superfractor feels like a moron. I am not arguing about ROY anymore, heyward will win and i will bet my entire collection on that.

What does Strasburg have to do with the thread you made concerning the ROY award?
Just because people don't agree with your opinion and laid out facts to support their own opinion doesn't mean the discussion should just end or be changed.

Strasburg has nothing to do with it. You brought him up so i figured i would end it since it was heading in that direction.

how come no one ever mentions jamie garcia as a ROY candidate?
13-8
2.70 era
132 ks
163 IP
and hes only given up 9 hrs
everytime there is a ROY poll(and there have been several in the last couple months) no one mentions him as a candidate. he would get my vote easily if i had one
but as i said before heyward will win it more then likely. it was basically given to him before the season and all he had to do was put up decent numbers which he has so he will more then likely get it.

I mentioned him in almost every thread, but as the ERA gets closer to 3, it hurts his chances, that and only 13 wins (not that the wins is his fault, but it certianly doesn't help his case)

thats true i see you mention it alot but no one else seems to remember him. its all posey/heyward. i think his season is about over so that 2.7 era shouldnt go much higher. he pitched a great season most of it in the midst of a division title run so his starts had some meaning unlike pitching for the royals or a team like that. I hope the voters see what alot of people on here are missing but they will probably give it to heyward.

are you really saying part of the consideration for rookie of the year is who brings in more attendance?
I know you are a Heyward fan but Posey has put up better numbers than him while playing a much more demanding position. I don't know if Heyward would even get more than 1 first place vote. they look at power numbers and average as the biggest conditions for the award
