    should superlative cards be removed??

first off.. hello and good day (especially to those in ontario.. we really got some nice weather today)... anyways.. i was reading on another site about cracking ITG UM, graded cards and superlative cards from there original sleeves/holders/cases.... personally i will never crack a graded card or a ITG UM card.. i like them in those holders for display sakes... now what i really want to know is.. do you guys every cut the sticker on superlative cards and put them in one-touch holders?.. i have a few superlative cards that ar only worth about 20-50 dollars for my PC wich I have no plan on selling in the near future.. im building a display case currenty designed for the one touch or graded card slabs.. so im thinking of cracking the 4 or 5 superlative cards i have and putting them in one touches?.. should i do it? or should i just keep them sealed with the ITG sticker.. keep in mind I have no plans on selling these few cards for many years to come.. not that they are really SSP but they are PC none the less.. well guys i appreciate any input.. and ive been on here for a few months now and found so many answers to my questions.. and met lots of great people/traders along the way.. awesome job in keeping up the hobby with the great collectors and friendly people of this forum.. enjoy your weekend everyone!

If you are sure that you won`t move them anytime soon , I`d say there is no problem with moving them out of their original holder , especially when you create a kind of display for other holders like you say .
It may only become an issue when trying to sell them again , though not to everyone , but I can imagine to some buyers .

yeah.. thats what i am thinking.. i am not planning on anytime soom.. plus.. some of the cards that are numbered to 50 can be grabbed on ebay for 20 dollars. so i figure might as well put those cards in one touches.. well i hope to make a thread soon about custom cases.. im making a custom wooden case. with slotted shelves for either graded cards or one touch magnetics.. i have diode light strips that will stick on the bottom of each shelf to light up every shelf.. UV protective LEXAN front.. hmm i could go on.. i thought up this baby over a few months here and there.. just waiting for a decent router and table saw to go on sale at either canadian tire or sears. or home depot.. im an avid woodworker who took all 4 years of woodworking in high school on top of my regular classes, if this one turns out well and i can afford to make ones to sell in my spare time im going to post a thread for them. i hope to make custom cases in many sizes and colors eventually for the sports card enthusiast's

I currently plan to send my Superlative cards to be slabbed by BGS (or another grading company, only to have the cards slabbed like my ITG UM cards). If ITG would accept to slab any ITG cards for a fee ($10-20/card), I would send my Superlative cards to ITG to have them slabbed. I do not understand how an expensive card can stay in a cheap top loader for the next 20 years... top loaders aren't made to long-term collectibles.

edit: however, the cards that I am not sure to keep in my collection for the long-term run, I keep them in the cheap sealed top loaders, for my tradebait.

My opinion.. I'd never break them out of their slab. To me, that's how they come and that's how they should stay. Same with cards that have a protective film, etc. Those stay on or in my opinion it de-values the card. Regardless of it's PC or not.. I shudder every time I hear of someone cracking open the slab.

As for the top loaders with stickers.. again, they would stay in their original holders. I agree that there's pros to having them in "better" protection - but again, that's the way they came.. that's the way they should stay.

    But that's just me..

For your information guys, anybody can re-seal a ITG Superlative cards with a clear sticker over the broken one with:

Stickers (round clear circle seals) dimensions are available in the same dimensions as the ITG stickers ,also available with perforation in the middle. This is why it is a false feeling to think that a top loader is automatically "factory sealed". A slab is the only way to have it factory sealed.

True.. although closer inspection would easily show it was "tampered" with - and what about the ITG logo?
