i still think josh hamilton will get it. yes he's been out the last month but the rangers pretty much wrapped up the division a month ago. he didn't miss any significant games. it's basically like an nfl team resting their starters for the last two games of the season. cabrera will get some votes and carl crawford should too

Yeah I think Hamilton will get it. If there was a second half MVP I would have to give it to Mauer. He hit like .375 and carried his team into the playoffs without Morneau.

Josh Hamilton should get the title but he has be injured i know so it will most likely will not happen. Anyone else have an AL MVP?

I've heard this brought up a number of times as to why Hamilton should not win the MVP award. But didn't the Rangers play poorly after Hamilton was taken out of the line-up. Doesn't that show the value of Hamilton to the Rangers team. You take some of the other candidates like Robinson Cano or Cabrera away from their teams, and I don't think the way the Yankees and Tigers finished in the standings changes any. I don't think that you can fairly penalize Hamilton because he missed the last month of the season due to injury. I look up the award as the most valuable player to his team, not necessarily the best player in the league.

    Just my 2 cents.............

Cabrera missed 8 games this season...The Tigers went 1-7...Take Cabrera off the Tigers and they are a 100 loss team, guarnteed.

The Rangers went 14-10 without Hamilton in September, if you project that 5 months in a row of going 14-10, it'd project to being 20 games over the .500 mark, they didnt struggle..

Hamilton would've been a lock if he played, but he didnt, and Cabrera played most of September and raked..

And even I'm willing to admit if you took Cano off this seasons yankee team, they are probably 7 games worse than they are with him.

Hamilton had it hands down, no discussion. Then got injured which may have lost it for him. I still think Josh Hamilton is the best in the AL, but him being out the amount of time he was lost him the MVP award.

It is called the MVP, not the best hitter..Cabrera had a great year, but they missed the playoffs..Hamilton also had a great year and made the playoffs..

Question is: Do the Rangers make the playoffs without Hamilton? NO

Tigers missed the playoffs with Cabrera, which means without him they still miss the postseason..No MVP for Cabrera, should go to Hamilton..although Batista could be a sleeper pick for some.

MVP is Most Valueable Player..Rangers went 14-10 without him in September..translated over 162 games and your looking at the team being around 20 games over .500...the Texas Rangers still get in the postseason with the same record without him..

If we're going by definition Cabrera holds more value to a team than Hamilton..Cabrera is the 2nd best player in baseball, behind Pujols as far as offense goes. So if we're going by value, Cabrera hands down had more value this season than Hamilton...

Look at the Rangers offense..they'd be just fine without Hamilton..as evidence of there September record without him
